Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandPeople, big community feel! Very close to brunswick shops and public transport. Tram and bus are 100m from hostel and train station is 9 minute walk. Good for working holiday travellers, as the staff are flexible with extending stays. Highly recommend!

IrelandI stayed in Landing Pads for four weeks and I had a great time there! Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The place was kept cozy and clean. The other guests were respectful of each other and the house rules, and we had great fun with all the social events inside and outside the hostel! I definitely recommend Landing Pads to anyone coming to Melbourne!

AustraliaNothing really comes to mind.
I've stayed in quite a few hostels throughout the years, but this is the first time I was in a place that gave me so much 'being home' vibes. Everyone (from staff to other backpackers) were very friendly and would always find a way to spend their time together. Location was also great, specially if you wanna enjoy what Brunswick has to offer. Special shotout to Guily and Lina for making mine and Mariana stay even more enjoyable. When I'm back to Melbourne, I'm definitely staying with Pads hoping I can meet some familiar faces again.

AustraliaSmall details, the wash n dry systems need coins, so, if you don't have cash, it is hard to use it. The kitchen is a little bit small for the amount of people and some beds don't have curtains, but that's all.
Almost anything from the hostal is amazing. People is nice, they have a cheap laundry/dry system, there is certain activities during the week and the beds are comfortable. They store lost objects, so you can recover them, the water system is good, and you have hot water for washing and bath. There are a lot of stores and supermarkets near the area, so, it's a huge advantage.

CanadaThe pros wayyyy outweigh the negative, but the air flow sucked in the rooms. We had a balcony door so that helped a lot. It’s also a house so be prepared to have to wait for bathrooms at busy times. Also if you want to be close to all the action it’s 30min tram to city, 1hr to at Kildare, and 1.5th to half moon bay so factor transit $$ in your decision, but you’ll love it. Just sit at the picnic tables and you’ll make friends in no time
I originally booked for 1 week…ended up staying over a month. It’s an older house with some cosmetic issues, but the homey feel and people made it hard to leave. It is a working hostel, so it was nice that they hosted a job seeker workshop to give some insight into what the Aussies are looking for. Made some amazing friends who were had the same relative goals and not party 24/7. Love the family dinner night and programming. Shout out to Arnie and his amazing spa night that was 1000% needed. The staff were cleaning warriors and Amanda has a killer work setlist.

United KingdomThe only thing that bothered me was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Not filthy but consistently dirty floors.
The best hostel I've stayed in so far. This is mostly down to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that starts from the owner Matt and extends to everyone I met. It feels more like a big sharehouse than a hostel. The 5 bed dorm I was in was spacious with lots of storage and comfortable beds. Common areas were comfortable and clean, but a bit of a squeeze if everyone was around at once. Movie nights and family dinners were such a nice touch. I wish I had stayed longer and I'll definitley be booking again when I'm back in Melbourne.

AustriaThe only thing I can think of: The WiFi needs a do-over.
I loved this hostel. I personally think it was one of the best I have been. The staff was superb. Starting at check-in when Virgine showed me around nicely. Also the other staff (Redd and Ezra) are amazing people who make you feel welcome the moment you enter the hostel. Moreover, the living room and the backyard is a big hangout spot to meet new crowds and build friendships, with for me as a solo traveler is one of the most important things. I enjoyed the stay so much that I extended twice. Thank you so much!

everything! it’s a really well run hostel and it has a family vibe everyone was soo nice even though I’m really socially awkward, they have a lot going on so if your a solo traveller it’s nice to be able to do stuff with people, it is clean and the free food shelf in the kitchen is a really good idea! room was big and had lockers in and plenty of space to put clothes and bits. two outdoor areas one which is quiet and one which you can use to smoke etc.

United KingdomEverything. In my two weeks here I’ve made some friends for life. Everyone is so welcoming, there’s daily activities on to get everyone in the hostel involved, I’ve never enjoyed staying somewhere so much. I’m actually devastated to be leaving to my own apartment, but I’ll be back as a guest on the regular. The staff are amazing, and just friends like everyone else here. I couldn’t say anything other than amazing things for this place. There’s a reason people have stayed here for so long, it’s fantastic.

AustraliaShowers, especially upstairs could do with updating but are still serviceable. WiFi was a little poor at times but after talking to staff was improved very quickly.
Great welcoming from staff and guests, comfy beds with two pillows for once. Good kitchen with sharp knives and a freezer. Social activities throughout the week means you actually get to know the other guests. Geared up for longer staying guests it almost feels like a share house.
