Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalHad a really nice stay at this hostel. Felt really welcomed and respected by staff and other guests and the feeling in this hostel is like being at home with a big family! Definitely recommend, specially if you want to sleep well, everyone is respectful with quiet times which is perfect if you have tours early in the morning. Not a party hostel which was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you guys!

JapanIt was a little bit far from the supermarket like Woolworths. And i felt there are not enough toilets for the number of people staying there.
The staff were so kind and friendly, they provided all the rules and tips for the stay in details. The location was good, near the cbd of Cairns, every attraction was close to it.

FinlandFor some reason it smelled like piss in my spot, noticed it when got to bed and tried to localize it but couldn't. No one was at the front desk at that time, so had to deal with it. The walls between the rooms are very thin and heard a lot of talks from the adjacent room in the evening. There was only cereal for breakfast, there had been some issues with food delivery but would've expected it to be handled some way, with fruits or something. Was ok for one night but wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.
Bed was comfy, the air condition worked nicely so it was a comfortable to sleep.

Stayed in a private room - nice and clean, don’t expect much as it’s still a hostel. AC worked well, fresh sheets, quiet overall. Facilities are well-maintained, has a proper kitchen which I didn’t have a chance to use

GermanyI only stayed one night in a 6bed dorm. The room was very untidy, but I also arrived late so I assume the other did not expect me to come. The air condition was on and the room was freezing.
The hostel was ok/good. The general area seemed to be cool, but as I arrived late and left early I did not use it.

HungaryIt's a hostel, manage your expectations accordingly.
It's a nice hostel, with great location within Cairns. The hostel itself is a very social one, and the added breakfast is just a bonus!

TaiwanSometime you get no hot water when you shower in peak time. And they didn’t provide blanket until you ask for one, and it’s quite cold at night with an AC
West side of the building which is 12 people room actually is more quiet, I have stayed in east side 2nd floor it was so noisy and the timber floor squeaky every time when people across outside the room! And you can hear clearly people speaking in the kitchen and yard. I like the bathroom is always clean and kitchen also good to use, plenty space if you not using in peak time. And also suitable for base, I got all my letters from the mailbox at reception.

United KingdomThe private twin room was a decent size but a little drab. No windows to the outside so no real sunlight was the worst thing. There was one window into a hallway, which had to be closed or everyone can see right in when they walk past. But this might not be the case for all rooms, only this one.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. They offer a continental breakfast with a range of cereals, coffee, tea, and toast (with lots of vegan options too). The common areas are really spacious, and the pool was fun. I would definitely stay again if back in Cairns, as the vibe was nice and chill, not full of young party-goers like the rest are in the area.

United KingdomNothing to not like.
The lady one reception Lois, was very friendly. The man on the desk this morning (10th) was too. They went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The hostel was tidy and organised well. The breakfast was nice, and to sit and watch a movie was great too. The hostel was quiet and clean. They had a hair dryer in the girls bathroom, and was always topped up with soap and paper towels.

United KingdomI booked this accommodation because I saw it had different events on each night (looking at pictures advertised) however when I was there I wasn’t aware of any events which would have been useful to help guests socialise with others more.
I liked that the 12 bed room was split into three sections so didn’t feel as if you were sharing with so many people. Free breakfast advertised that I saw lots use :) I liked that the accommodation had a pool although I didn’t get to use it because of the weather. Rooms were always cleaned and bathrooms always clean too.

AustraliaAC was really cold, especially at night (I actually got a cold from it…), the hostel itself is a very open space so a lot of heat gets in and it’s hot. You can hear the TV/common areas from the rooms. My room didn’t have a window to open.
This is a really nice hostel! Staff are very nice, kitchen well equipped with lots of spices and oil for everyone to use. Lots of fridges and free brekkie.
