Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaCheck in was very complicated and unclear. No WiFi was a disappointment and the TV connection was horrible, 3 channels worked without glitching. There are no openable windows so if you want fresh air to come in you need to leave the sliding door open, which has no screen so flies and everything will come in. The curtains were very hard to open and close and didn't seem to want to budge when being moved.
Great location and view, comfy bed and modern kitchen.

New ZealandThere's no WiFi which in today's market is not good. This was the 2nd most expensive accommodation we stayed in, after the Treasurey in Brisbane, and was the only place not offering WiFi.
It was quite spacious and well equipped

AustraliaThe glass door and windows were really dirty. We couldn't open the door from the bedroom to the balcony. The curtains in both rooms are difficult to move Only one wine glass! But 3 champagne glasses.
We've stayed here before as it's a comfortable unit and convenient to the beach, surf club, restaurants and cafes. You can park your car and not use it again. Very comfortable bed! Great having 2 TV's. Nice ocean view from the balcony.

AustraliaCarpet in the bedroom is old and because of this it smells a bit, utensils and some kitchenware needs replacing. Both bed side lamp shades were broken and strategically balanced on the base so as soon as you touched them they fell off, do not want to be blamed for this, Apartment is quite dated and could do with a lick of paint to refresh.
Location was excellent

New ZealandThis listing is misleading. It is not part of Sandcastles Resort, it is just a private apartment located in the same building as Sandcastles Resort (the actual Sandcastles Resort rooms are much nicer and they have friendly staff!). Upon check in, we found the room to be dated and not clean (sand on the couch is not acceptable, period). You could tell the room had been at least wiped down (unsure if they used cleaning products or just a wet rag) as there were smear marks over the fridge and shower walls. There is a rug in the lounge which looks so old and dirty, I think if you tried to pick it up, it would fall to pieces in your hand. Plus a build up of dust behind the bedside tables. The stools in the kitchen are rusty which is also unacceptable (see pictures). There's also no WiFi which in 2024 is not something I even check for on a listing but from now on out I will be checking to see if the owners of accommodation units are up with the times (a lesson for me). Although WiFi isn't the be all and end all usually, for those travelling and using roaming or relying on WiFi, having it in your accommodation is actually an important factor (even the option to pay for it would be better than nothing!) The carpet in the bedroom looks to be from the 50's and we believe this is probably the reason why the apartment had a strange smell. Upon check out, when we found out we'd been totally mislead (see below for context) we informed a lady at First Holidays and she did not care at all, in fact was quite rude and abrupt over the phone...as the owner of this property I wouldn't be happy with that level of service from the team managing my property, although, I don't think the owner has much care towards this property anyway. Context: we booked this room via booking.com quite last minute. I'd previously been looking at Sandcastles Resort and when it came time to booking, this ROOM/lisitng in particular came up as highly rated.
The location was the only good thing about this property.
