How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We are in the process of relocating and needed a berth and a rest and a treat. Philip, Lana and the team were delightful, the room and bathroom extremely comfortable and well designed.

We had paid for breakfast and would have thought that orange juice should have been included in the price rather than a paid extra. Just my personal view.
Breakfast was cooked to perfection. All staff were excellent especially Lana who gave us two homemade cakes to take with us. She was very knowledgeable about the area and nothing was too much trouble. We loved our stay.

Our daughter had room 1 near front entrance & adjacent to restaurant area so could be some disturbance
Great location in residential street but also close to cafes, restaurants, & other services. Walking distance to Botanic Gardens, Opéra House & Circular Quay.

The hotel has very little amenity. It's a good place to stay if you want a room only. Breakfast wasn't great. We skipped it after day 1

A bit noisy on the back alley at times, but otherwise a great balance of service and location and ease of access to city sites.
Comfortable, nicely decorated, clean, great bed and pillows. Very welcoming and engaging staff, great vibe. Nice to be on Victoria, a block from hustle and bustle yet peaceful.

This was a good stay for us. Location perfect for an event that we were attending, and Spicers is just lovely. Such an old building and beautiful. Nothing I didn't like.
The entire place is beautiful. We paid for the parking at a very reasonable price and it was locked away securely - so easy to drive in and be safe. The room was impeccable, the service was impeccable and the location was perfect for what we wanted. The bathroom was very clean and tidy and the fridge with amenities was exactly as expected. Very gorgeous little place to stay. Was given a welcome coffee while our bags went into the room and on departure a little farewell cake. The staff were excellent from when I booked, to when we departed.

The price is a bit high
A hotel with a lot of charm and character, both outside and in the interior decoration. The staff is very welcoming and helpful (they offer great advice on places to visit and restaurants). The breakfast was excellent.

Not much, rooms don't provide much of a view but are very comfortable so not a complaint, just heads up. May be possible to request a room with balcony but these are facing street so could be noisy.
Loved the hotel and location. Great to walk to restaurants, even to Sydney harbour through botanical gardens is easy. Access to train and buses is excellent. Food was great. Staff were wonderful, excellent choice.

Wow, just wow! This boutique hotel is simply amazing. The staff were incredible and took care of everything we needed. The breakfast was fantastic, and the location is perfect—right in the center of everything. If you're looking to stay in this area, this hotel is absolutely PERFECT!

Loved the location, the charm of the refurbish terraced houses into a hotel. the room was lovely, well appointed and spacious. The staff were lovely and accommodating, the location was great!
