After the Booking.com reservation the email confirmation included "rules" not previously advertised e.g., "The tiny house is approximately 50 to 60 meters away from the main house. • Wifi is not available • BBQ Grill is not available • No drinking allowed (wine, beer, etc.)"" AND 5 other okay housekeeping points PLUS " • We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge" The 1st major issue was the "eco-friendly compost toilet" which had a mechanical failure caused by a design flaw (the 'drop plate' is released by undoing a knurled knob at the rear of the seat: it is easily fully unwound so the handle comes off, the lower crap slide fell off onto the box of faeces & urine & paper & mulch below) which was temporarily fixed by placing a large plastic bag under the ring to limit the upward airflow into the small shower/toilet room at one end of the house/room. Of course actually using the toilet required removal of the plastic each use! as the host was unfortunately unable to retrieve & re-fit the drop plate....hopefully this was fixed after we left, before next guests arrived. Another issue was the tiny house is tiny, cramped & uncomfortable except in bed (Queen occupies about 1/2 of total space in the box, toilet shower about 1/3 so there is little room for luggage, clothes, food box etc.) so it is essential to be neat, tidy & leave stuff in the car. ORIENTATION is an issue as the windows both sides are not 2xglazed & face East & West so it was cold in the morning & hot in the afternoon i.e., sit outside at the 2 person table after moving it into the shade in the afternoon, behind the tiny house, meant looking back onto the yard & old house up the drive whereas the cattle & paddocks view is better but faces west!!
