This hostel had one of the best atmospheres I've ever experienced! The common areas were cozy and perfect for meeting other travelers, which made it super easy to make friends. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Highly recommend for those who enjoy a social and lively environment!

I absolutely loved my stay at this hostel! The location was unbeatable—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. The dorms were clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the privacy curtains on the beds. Great vibes and an excellent choice for solo travelers!

hostel smelled like stale cigarettes throughout which made me feel grotty, staffing hours were sporadic, beds weren't very comfy and noisy which definitely disrupted others trying to sleep, not much space in the hostel, very cluttered, definitely could do with a reno, some guys making gross derogatory comments ruined the stay for me but i get that that's not the hostel's fault but lack of security definitely kept me on edge. i wouldn't stay again

Almost impossible to open the windows in the rooms, which were not badly clean but full of mess (plugs and people's stuff) everywhere No keys at all, people sleeping in the couches (not safe)

The location was great, close to bus stops, restaurants and Perth city. The staff were polite, helpful and they made sure your stay was welcomed. Staff cleaned everyday all bathroom areas aswell as kitchen/lounge areas.

... You are supposed to sell the dream. I have been working in hotel Front Office for over 10 years. The first message we receive after making the booking is unacceptable. I kept the booking because it was the best rated accommodation within my budget. But damn, you are making sure guests know they are not welcomed, barely tolerated as an income source. I guess it is a good investment for you but you are clearly in the wrong business. Also, dont mix travelers with long time stayers. When you get to the room and there are stuff everywhere (which is legitimate for people staying weeks/months), it is not good when you dont know where you can simply put down your backpack.

1. Smell too bad in both bedroom and toilet 2. Each room is not quite large enough to accommodate 4-6 people but the owner gives no care btw 3. The level of cleanliness is very poor compared to the standard of living accommodation

I’m not trying to be pessimistic about their business but I could not come up with any side that would be nice about this hostel.

The hostel in general is very small. The bedroom is even worse. It is really old and tacky; it is shown very different from the website. A lot of random stuff are placed in there. My worst experience was that the extension cable was placed right under my mattress, and I only realized the second night I was there. I felt so uncomfortable and unsafe to sleep on the mattress, so I changed to the upper level of the bunk bed. The bunkbed is also old that every movement makes sounds and those squeaky noises.

It would have been better if they had told me that the facility would have been locked days in advance instead of the day before I arrived. I was busy organizing my trip and did not check my emails. I did not see the email as I was travelling and arrived in the night, it was dark and I had no way of getting in> I was not told that I needed codes to get the door open and I was stranded outside with the taxi meter ticking!! There was no phone number to ring or contact. When I told them this later they have not answered my email and wont give me back my money that I have already paid!! There were so many warnings about having a passport but no warning about the gate being locked and you needed a code!!!!! I am so disappointed and angry that they didn't even offer me all or half of my money back as I did not stay there even for one night!! I will definitely not be recommending this hostel to anyone.

The room was smelly and a mess, the wardrobe was dusty as well as my bed, tiny room for 8 people, no curtains for beds, threatening signs everywhere around the kitchen, the included breakfast was just poor (no fruits nor milk nor butter, these are basics). Also there were bed bugs, as I woke up with bites on my legs. Extremely expensive for the value provided.

I tried to notify the property via booking.com that I wanted to cancel my booking about 1 week before my stay, there wasn’t any notification of successful cancellation, so I went to the property on the designated day. But the front desk told me that they only have 1 night for me, while my booking was for 3 nights. I asked for refund of the 2 nights but no news thereafter, I have to book another hotel for the rest of my stay. The room is smelly and my locker doesn’t even have a lock.

The water pressure for warm water in the shower could be better. Everything else was good.

I had an amazing experience at Shiralee. Staff is super friendly! Dorms are fantastic. Comfy Beds and free towels and also free breakfast. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Common areas is good to connect with other people aswell. I can only recommend.
