How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The mattress was so uncomfortable. We had a rough night sleep. Linen was beautiful, and clean pillow’s good just the mattress was hard and you can feel springs on your back

The bed was uncomfortable. The rooms generous proportions were lost when it was subdivided to create the bathroom. It felt squashed. The reception area floor didn't look clean, this creates an unfortunate first impression. It would be nice to have been able to wander more, eg into the dining room, and get more history, even a mini guided tour to add to the experience.
We loved the old building and the Victorian courtyard with plants of that era. We really enjoyed having an evening drink in this area.

When we arrived painting was being done with strong fumes. Fumes and smell in room allocated resulting in a very uncomfortable night with little sleep and headache. Booked for two nights but left after one. Perhaps a little more consideration of where the fumes were and perhaps an offer of a room away from the area could have been offered.

Not even a table or a place to hang clothes except the floor. When dining is not available surely a biscuit should be provided to have with coffee. Vue Grand is a beautiful old building . The bed was comfy but we were disappointed by what was provided for our stay.

Scalding shower, no water pressure then no hot water. Shower was dirty.

Sound echoes really loudly in the rooms. And we had very loud neighbours till 2 in the morning .... much lost sleep. Needed better pillows ( we had sore backs the next day ) and our air conditioner was blowing cold air in winter and was preset so we couldn’t warm up our room. Big drought coming thru balcony door. Also vanity was shabby, peeling badly , therefore unsanitary Also TV remote control didn’t work properly.

We came down for an event held at the hotel, room was amazing we had dinner at the hotel before our event, the food was amazing our room was beautiful!! My sister and I enjoyed our night, cannot wait to bring my family back

The TV reception was somewhat poor but I should've asked the staff to fix it

Question for the Manager ? Would you be happy with being charged $400 for what we experienced? And then on top of that $80 for the booking fee because we no longer could stay at your hotel due to the discomfort in both rooms ? $480 down the drain. Would you be happy with that ? Word of mouth is the biggest feedback. I’ll leave it at that for now.
Food was beautiful at the restaurant- that’s all !
