Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

the fire alarm going off at 3am and how rock hard the mattress was

The whole hostel area (inside and outside) is really nice and spacious. Loved the morning yoga classes and the fact that they offer shuttle buses to town.

One of the staff guys was very rude while I was stiil cooking and wanted me to dry the knife I've used two seconds ago immediately. While I was still removing everything else. Please don't treat people lile that if you have a bad day.

The hostel vibe it’s so good. In the room you feel like you are in a hotel. Excepcional amenities. Very closed to the beach. A bit far from the centre but you have free shuttle and bikes to use

The hostel was great and people were friendly but a lot of the people were living and working at the hostel so it was quite cliquey
Nice kitchen and some organized activities! The shuttle van is essential to be able to get into town since it is quite far out (25 min walk from town).

I think the showers and the mattress are the only thing I would change. The mattress is small for 2 people and does not support (very old probably). Of course it is an hostel so we did not expect too much comfort but.. given that the price is quite high for low season (137 -159 per night) it could be improved a bit :)). However we will for sure be back :)
Location, and quietness during the night :) Private Rooms and kitchen are very clean. I love the rooms decoration. Staff is very nice. Love that they have a bus every hour and rent bicycle for 5$ only!

Brilliant location, unpretentious and perfect Byron Bay vibes. Comfy and immaculate with warm welcome from Nicola at reception. Lots of help for activities and places to see. Highly recommend

No pool, but that will change come September!!! It’s a little outside of the city center but it’s an easy walk or Ubers are available. The hostel also provides regular shuttle service during the day.
The staff was awesome! I’m pretty introverted but on the first night, a male staff member saw me standing by myself watching beer pong and immediately introduced himself and then introduced me to a group of girls who I’ve met up with a few times since during my travels. Property was clean and quiet and the hostel had fun events to meet people. Probably my favorite hostel I’ve ever been to!

only the shower were a bit bad but still working

Everyone was very lovely, especially the staff. The atmosphere was relaxing, an immersion into nature. I've never been in such a clean hostel before, everything was super neat. You can absolutely regenerate and take a break from the crowded world outside. You also have the chance to socialize and meet interesting people, especially during the night events! I will totally recommend it, you'll love it ;)

Great hostel with great facilities, clean, good vibe and great social options. Free yoga and surfboard hire is a great plus. Bit further out from town but shuttle runs every hour and it is still walkable. Probably the best hostel we have stayed in 3 months of travel.
