Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Beautiful property. Very nice room. The hotel provides guests with a four page booklet about Bruges containing recommendations on things to see, restaurants and historical bars to visit. Enjoyed the breakfast as well.

LuxembourgIf there’s one minor downside, it would be the location. Finding the hotel using Waze or Google Maps can be a bit tricky, especially on weekends when certain restrictions apply. However, the hotel does inform guests in advance about this, which helps. Another slight area for improvement could be the breakfast selection—while it was good, a bit more variety would elevate the experience even further.
From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, everything was absolutely perfect. The check-in and check-out process was incredibly smooth, making our stay stress-free from the start. The hotel itself is chic and beautifully designed, with elegant sun-dried flower bouquets adding a unique charm throughout the space. One of the standout details was the amazing toiletries – not only did they smell incredible, but you could also purchase them at reception, which was a great touch. One of the biggest highlights was the hotel’s pet-friendly policy. Unlike most places that restrict pets in certain areas, here, we could have our dog with us everywhere—no limits at all! This truly made our experience special. To top it off, the hotel even left a small cookie for our dog as a thoughtful welcome gift, which was such a lovely gesture. Additionally, we were welcomed with two delicious Belgian chocolates in our room—another small but memorable touch. The bar was fantastic, offering a great atmosphere and stunning views. The staff was professional, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall excellence of our stay. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s stylish, welcoming, and truly worth the value. We will definitely return, and we highly recommend it to anyone—especially pet owners looking for a genuinely pet-friendly luxury stay!

PortugalWe found the suite category room very strange - a bit of a semi-basement, with a very, very outdated and questionable design and a bathroom that is long overdue for replacement. There was no sense of care from the staff, it didn't feel like a "family" hotel at all
Great location, in between lovely streets, all the most beautiful places of Bruges within walking distance. Private parking. Very good breakfast. Cute boutique hotel, has its own bar and common relaxing area

Anton, the manager, was great. Room was large, well appointed, hotel was quiet and comfortable. In the middle of historic Bruges, which is a tiny gothic town: you can walk to everywhere. We were quite comfortable.

United KingdomThe location is superb, right in the heart of the historic centre. We never had to use the car as everything was within walking distance. The hotel is clearly a family run, labour of love., not only a business. The attention to detail shines through e.g. candles lit throughout the breakafst room and lounges that, in combination with the decor, provided a romantic, laid-back ambience. The staff were really attentive and helpful. We didn't get the name of the young man on reception who helped both recommend and book a restaurant for us; and Maritsa, who looked after us at breakfast was really pleasant, interested and accommodating. Bruges is a beautiful city and the Castillion is a beautiful base to visit it from

United KingdomWe booked a standard room, it was a little snug, so if we were staying for longer than 2 nights we would recommend booking a bigger room.
Great location and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very boutique and full of character and charm. Like the rest of the hotel, our room was beautifully decorated, with everything you could need. Chocolates in room each day were a lovely treat!
