Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe property is not clean. Ants everywhere, dust Everywhere. Barely any amenities. The windows int the living room, one set doesn’t open at all, the other one is broken. In addition, it can get very noisy due to its central location.
The property is located right in the city centre, great location. Host super responsive and helpful

United KingdomBins and outdoor ashtrays were overflowing. Not enough toilet roll. Access was difficult, the code for the keybox was emailed late (didn't receive a text as promised); we only got in by chance when we saw a cleaner, the only time we saw any staff during our two day stay.
Location and building were fantastic, right by the cathedral but not too loud. Bedroom was fine, not as nice as photos. Kitchen and yard were welcome extras.

PortugalI booked a room with a private external bathroom, but the bathroom did not have a key and was used by other people as well. I paid for a service that I did not receive. It was unpleasant to see that other people used the bathroom. Late check in and very early check out. 10 am is too early.
Perfect location.

United KingdomTrivial really but the utensil drawer was a bit broken & awkward to open/close. Also no dishwasher tablets nor plug for kitchen sink for washing up. Maybe a hand /drying up towel for kitchen?
Fabulous location, great value for money, comfy & super toasty. Amazing property with excellent features! Perfect for a nights stay!

NetherlandsThere was nothing I didn’t like about the property. Any questions were answered quickly in the app and the cleaning staff went out their way to help me when I had a question. I usually go to modern spa hotels so this was new for me. I will definitely come back again.
Overwhelmingly stunning property from the 16th Century converted into accommodation. Quiet and peaceful yet in the heart of beautiful Antwerp. The clever layout (a mixture of formal and informal) allowed me to read comfortably and quietly while my daughter did some studying.

GermanyAs other reviews already stated, it urgently needs some TLC. For the price it is okay but it could be double that with a few touches. I understand that an old building like that smells a bit musky but the interiors could probably be cleaned more thoroughly/ replaced to reduce this. Some decent sheets (that fit the mattress) and towels would make it a little more attractive too. Common areas are used by all guests but will not be cleaned by all guests, so the hosts should keep s closer eye on that. It's a real pity to have to give such a bad review but it is such a gorgeous place with so much potential and only a few small touches could make it amazing.
Great location. Amazing place. It's like a museum. The room was beautiful and the old features very interesting. Booking and access to room was easy.

GermanyI have to confirm some of the problems. 1: The public space is neglected, and the furniture is dirty. The courtyard is beautiful with a wonderful atmosphere of history but not cleaned. 2. Strong bad smell of old age and sewage. 3. There was Wi-Fi, but it was weak. 4. Only two large towels and one small one (for hands and face) for three people. 5. They sent a request to pay the tourist tax, already paid by me at the time of booking. And they automatically sent a tax reminder twice. If you have already paid it to booking.com just ignore it, don't pay again) I don't consider the noise from the street a disadvantage, because you see that you are booking a room in an old building in a central place with bars. This is simply not a place for sensitive sleepers.
After reading the terrible reviews, I expected much worse. No need to bring soap and toilet paper with you) Settled in the room I booked (N), the instructions for check-in were clear. The room was clean, spacious shower, beautiful interior. The place is not just central and historic, this house literally has walls that go into the cathedral and has a common courtyard with it. Apparently, the house used to belong to the cathedral, judging by the decorative elements. It would be nice if the owners could provide information about the history of the house. The price for such a central location is very low, so some drawbacks were expected.

GermanySomething that might be considered as inconvenience and could be improved (no parking, street bustle, seemingly shabby style) is impossible to be improved due to the specifics of this exclusive place (location in a historic building directly in the historic center). It is expectable and understandable.
Absolutely unique accommodation in the very historical center of Antwerpen in the building of the 16th century! It felt like as if we were brought back in time to the MIddle Ages, or at least to some antique store or museum. Exceptional location in the vicinity of the Cathedral. Terrace detached to the cathedral with a splendid view and entrance covered with kiwi trees. Rare place provoking special feelings. Truly atmospheric and perfectly located.

IrelandThere is very little privacy in room L because on one side you have the shared courtyard, though nice, other guests use it too, it connects directly to the bar/ reception on the ground floor and you hear literally everything in the next room and in the courtyard. The apartments apparently are more private. The sound insulation is non existent. So bring ear plugs. Would give a much higher review if it wasn't for this. In my opinion it was still worth staying here, it's a unique place.
I really appreciated that there are people willing to take care of this precious old building, despite some flaws. We loved all tiles, the courtyard outside our room at the base of the Cathedral, the old fresco in our room. When we arrived there were some unexpected problems, but the host did their best to solve this. We appreciated this too. Thank you!

MontenegroRoom was spotless but common areas felt unclean. Furniture in upstairs common/kitchen area old & soiled. Very old building needing more TLC. New owners, I’m sure they’re working on it. Outdoor patio area smells of rotten foliage. Front door difficult to open. Kitchen adequate but they could provide salt, pepper, napkins, coffee creamer. Property not as large or impressive as the internet photos make it appear.
Location was great. On a small square, very close to center. Very walkable area. Room was great, very comfortable bed & bedding. Killer shower with rain head & body sprays. Shower looks new but mold/dirt starting to build up.

United KingdomBed top throw was a bit musky and noise travels relatively easily but largely a pleasant stay!
Cosy room with private bathroom separate but only 10 meters away. Stunning cathedral location and central to many monuments, restaurants, bars or tourist shops. We didn't see staff much (only in passing) but they were always friendly and had big smiles.

FrancePicture give a much better image of the accomodation than it is really. Some equipments look old, some look like tampered old furniture and blankets don't look very clean. Basically, it looks more like a student room than a real touristic accomodation. The drawback of the location is that the street is noisy and lighted late in the night without proper insulation or curtains : it might be difficult to sleep.
The location of the accomodation is very convenient, in the center of the city.
