Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandToilet was not attached to the floor and a bit undone; Stars that lead to the room are very difficult to climb with baggage, so you need to keep that in mind if you are carring large suitcases
Nicely furnished, good location

IndiaThere is no lift and the staircase is a very narrow spiral staircase - suitcases are impossible to bring up - we left them down in the kitchen . This is something that should be mentioned clearly in property description
Beautiful rooms and very vintage feel :)

AustraliaThe kitchen needs updating and the wiring, but this didn’t effect our stay.
What do you do expect for a 300 year old building? We had all that we needed our room was tastefully decorated and the convenience of being able to make a meal in the kitchen was good. Loved the quirky stairway. My husband is 70 years old and he managed to carry our luggage upstairs. It was difficult but we managed and the website does say that it is narrow so we were prepared. Close to everything we never used public transport we were able to walk during our 3 day stay.

United KingdomSlightly musty smell in bathroom, though it was perfectly clean. Room was accessed by a spiral staircase, this wasn't a problem for us but might be for others.
Close to train station, easy access (via key box) when arriving late. Comfortable bed. Access to a roof terrace (we didn't use it because it was raining).

BrazilThe spiral staircase. It’s EXTREMELY narrow, high and it made it very difficult and uncomfortable to go up 2 floors with a small hand luggage.
L’atelier de Hugo is extremely close to the train station and walking distance from Brussel-Midi. It’s also around 15 minutes on foot from the city center. The rooms were big, clean, beautiful, the host is kind, answered all my questions fast and did all he could to help us and make the stay enjoyable.

PolandDesign of the interior is unique, however room requires total renovation, which the owner says is planning anyway. There was a bad smell coming from the toilet. Shower was very old and didn't seem very clean. Be aware that stairs are quite uncomfortable to use, especially with luggage
Location was very good, close to subway. The owner was very friendly. We could leave our luggage the next day until our departure.

United KingdomThe property had character and was well located - just 2 mins to a lovely bistro, 5 mins to the local supermarket, 10-15 mins into the centre of Brussels. Hugo was on hand to answer any questions we had and very kindly offered the use of the downstairs facilities and to store our luggage before a late train home.

TurkeyThe staircase is too narrow. Also the bathroom needs renovating. It would be nice if it had a regular door rather than a swinging one.
Nice location, ten minutes walking distance to Brussels-Midi train station, 15-20 minute walk to the center, comfortable bed, I especially liked the shower that was by the bed

TurkeyIt's a very old building and you can hear noises from the other rooms, the entrance was unusual, the staircase was a bit claustrophobic, the room design was a bit creepy, and there was no soap in our room. Cleanliness was 7/10. We did not get what we expected from Brussels which did not help it either. If we loved the city, our perspective or mood might have been more positive.
We arrived in Brussels late, and they were helpful for check-in. They explained the details of how to get in. The check-in and check-out were unproblematic. Wifi signal was good and fast. Its location is quite well.

MalaysiaThe room has a musty smell, the bathroom even worse. The bathroom and the bed are merely separated by double swinging doors, which means you can see whoever uses the bathroom. Check in instructions and wifi password did not reach me eventhough the owner claimed it has been sent to my booking.com inbox (technical issues with booking.com i assume?) so checking in and settling in was a bit of a struggle for me. Amenities are old. Electric water heater was heavy with limescale. Coverlet/duvet cover and sofa have stains on them.
The room was well decorated, location is superb, very close to the metro and bus stop, surrounded by restaurants and convenient stores. You can literally see Porte de Hal from the doorstep. Owner very friendly and accommodating.

United Stateslook VERY narrow spiral stairs. 10 years older and we would have had to leave our bags downstairs. Shower in the room with half-wall and glass. Better like your roommate! Additionally, the toilet room has louvered doors so you hear and smell everything! No TV. No Coffee. Coffeemaker in kitchen but no supplies.
Close to Metro and Bus stop. Restaurants and bars within walking distance.
