Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThere is an extra charge of 40€ per person to use the indoor pool.
Really nice setting. The Manor could host an Agatha Christie night. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast had great choices.

United KingdomNot that we didn't like these aspects, we enjoyed our trip, but useful to know if you are planning a stay. There is no reception, you have to check-in at the Chateau down the hill, and if you drive make note it is a one-way system around the hotel. Breakfast, evening meals & drinks bar are based dawn in the hotel "Chateau du Lac". Also there is no lift in the Manoir, fortunately I am fit & able, but even so hauling 2 x suitcases up four flights of steps which are quite steep is not for everyone.
We have stayed in the Chateau before and decided to try the Manoir, it is approx 300m up the hill from the main hotel. The setting and the Manoir it-self are very quiet because it is just rooms only. Although in reception there is a self serve coffee machine which once I worked out how to operate it, it was well used first thing in the morning, fortunately we took milk with us as there was none available.

VietnamI had booked a room at Martin's Manor, when I reached the place at 22.30, the place was dark and seemed closed. I rang the bell, someone talked to me on the interphone, annoucing very rudely and briefly that I wasn't sleeping there and it was at the "Chateau"... I asked where it was and I ve been said to go down the way on my right and the place was on the left... with my luggage I walked down the street to only find a place called l'atelier du château, that was as dark as the Manor. I came back at the Manor, another couple was in the same situation than me. We called the phone number, rang the bell again, even went inside the place... NOBODY! I decided to take my car again and found out an arrow on the road stating Château du Lac. I parked the car and walked down the hill through stairs to reach the place. It was there!!! not at all where I ve been indicated by the person at the Manor. by that time it was already nearly 23.00. After 5 hours drive you prefer to be informed in advance that your room is not where you thought it was...
the location is beautiful, the view on the lake.

United KingdomI thought I'd booked the manor, but they had relocated me to the chateau and they said I should have had an email but I didn't see it, so I parked at the manor, was told to check in at the chateau so walked down in the pouring rain, only to be told I was now staying at teh chateau so had to walk back in the pouring rain to get my car and luggage. Then was woken up at 6.45 (5.45 UK time) by someone using the gym near my room dropping weights and the thudding of feet running on a treadmill. So that could have been better.
The location is lovely and the hotel, staff and food is perfect. Nice restaurants nearby as well.

NetherlandsNo complaints to be honest. We keep coming back because we really like it.
We booked in the Manor, but were upgraded into the main hotel at the last minute, which was a pleasant surprise. We originally booked one night an tacked an extra night on. It was the last 2 days of our summer road trip holiday. I stay at Martin's Chateau du Lac 1-3 times per year for a few days. It's a hidden gem in a nice nature area on a man-made lake. If you are looking for rest and a full-service hotel with spa and an excellent restaurant, you will be happy here. The breakfast was excellent as usual with everything you could desire. The spa, especially the steam bath is a personal favourite.

FinlandUnfortunately, the hotel forgot to inform us that the reception is in a completely different building, a 5-7 minute walk from the Manoir. So upon arrival late in the evening, I had to walk in the rain, check in, and walk back. Breakfast was also in the main building, luckily the weather had already improved. There was also difficulty in getting my deposit back. Although the hotel employee sort of did it in front of me using my own card, the deposit was not refunded and it took me several emails to different addresses for them to fix the problem. The communication was pretty confusing and in the end, no one even apologized. So the service could definitely be better.
The Manoir itself is stunning, the room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable, there is plenty of parking, the area is quiet and peaceful. The breakfast exceeded our expectations, I definitely recommend it.

United KingdomThe bedroom did have a few cobwebs, and the bathroom door didn't close properly, and some cupboards were a little worn, didn't close well. Could have done with a few more hangers for the wardrobe. But this was fine.
Conference at the hotel, went really well and all activities supported by the Hotel seemed to go very well. Nice areas, like the lounge and Restaurant. Nice and very supportive staff.

LuxembourgCheckin at the Château du Lac (the hotel next door) - I knew that, but I can see how it can be an inconvenient if you go directly to the Manoir. No elevator and very steep staircase - could be problematic for bulky luggage.
Setting « in the middle of forest », although technically in the village. The vila is surrounded by trees on all sides, the room have an antique feel to them (no two rooms are the same as layout).

NetherlandsFor people who travel without a car, this hotel could turn out a bit inconvenient. The location was not very convenient as you have to walk down to the Chateau Du Lac for check in and for your breakfast. Good thing is they provide you a shuttle service to get back to your hotel. But that is still inconvenience when you had a long tiring day. I was happy with the housekeeping until I found that one of the mineral water bottle provided for me in my room was not sealed and half used.
I really loved the vintage feel of the Hotel. You really get the feel of a vintage boutique hotel. The room was quite cozy and spacious. It is a great place to stay if you travel with a car.

NetherlandsThe breakfast was fine with excellent choices. An all too common mistake, however, was the flaccidity of the bacon due to it being covered without access to air.
This review is not about the Manoir but about the Château, because I was upgraded at minimal expense. So my glowing tributes are about the elegance and comfort of my room at the Château: the furnishings, the walk-in shower, the excellent pillows (soft and not too thick) and the cocktail imbibed in comfort in the restaurant.

The Manoir is an old mansion converted to a number of classic hotel room. it’s part of the Château du Lac, where we’ve stayed before. The room was equipped with every expected item. Classic decorations. We made use of the spa in the Château, which was 5 minutes walk.
