Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThis would be a ok stay if it would cost 3 times less! I understand the concept of a ‘cheap budget hostel for young people‘. But - we paid more than EUR 150 PER NIGHT for this room and: * The WiFi was bad (these days it never happens but this hostel succeeded...) * The room was under the roof with really bad ventilation * The room was really small * The bed was the CHEAPEST bed I‘ve ever slept at the hotel. It was almost not a bed, just some frame on short bed legs. Even the headboard was not installed! Guys, come on, you have it, just screw it there... * The mattress also awful, it was the cheapest one again, without springs even * No tea/coffee/sugar in the kitchen, also no toothbrushes and toothpaste. Well, I know that the hostel is ‘budget‘ and Brugge is overcrowded with tourists, but EUR150+ per night is not a ‘budget option‘. If you can see the price on your dates is around 50 then book it, if more then look for another hotel maybe not to leave the place with the feeling that you‘ve been robbed.
The location is fine + it was good to have an opportunity to park our bikes inside and lock them. Also, our room shared a well-equipped kitchen (I mean with kitchenware, not tea or coffee! See the rest of the review) with the other 2 rooms. The staff is also nice and helpful.

New ZealandThe stairs and the smell were the real downside, but the room itself was fine and reasonably clean.
We enjoyed the opportunity for cardiovascular stimulation and a sauna up to the stairs to our room. There was also a pungent scent in the stairs that really incentivised intermittant fasting for the day. The women staying on our floor were kind enough to leave a bag of eaten mussels behind the couch, which left a fantastic aroma in the common area. It was interesting that there was only the bottom piece of a kettle included in the facilities but no actual jug to attach. This was not an issue as there were no mugs in the kitchen should we be tempted to boil water on the stove. Overall, it's not a bad stay for us..Definitely not the worst.

ItalyThe location was not very favourable, staff was rude and not very clear with instructions, the place to sleep was in another building distant from the reception, the cage locker was below the bed and I had to woke up many times with one of the guests trying to push the cage under the bed once got stuck many times.
The privacy in the beds with cuttings and the silence during the night even beside a bar!

ItalyFalling asleep was pretty much impossible. There is a bar run by the hostel on the groundfloor. There were many customers whose pitch of voice was clearly altered by all the beer they drank. They talked loudly until ungodly hours. None of the hostel staff intervened to tell them not to make noise. On a different note I asked if I could leave my trolley in their storage room after the check-out time as I was supposed to leave Bruges in the afternoon. I was told I would have had to pay for that. That's why I left in the morning carrying my trolley. A customer should be treated with more respect.

United KingdomThis is from someone who hasn't stayed in a hostel for the last 20 years! It's also possible that there are better rooms, my son saw into another room and said it was much nicer. There were no cooking facilities with is helpful in a town a like Bruges. When people walked past the room it felt like they were in the room (the hostel provides ear plugs aplenty which was helpful). It smelt terrible in the part we were in (musty, damp, sewerage) and it wasn't even height of summer. There was no hot water in the tap in the tiny private bathroom (which needs an extractor fan). The room we were in was a bit run down, there had been a massive water leak above us which hadn't been painted over so there were stains all over the ceiling. Rooms looked so much nicer online. It was super expensive for an off peak room, we worked out that for a room of four with a shared bathroom it was 45 euros a head which I felt was a lot. There were cheaper rooms available last minute elsewhere in hotels. Book direct.
We stayed in an apartment. The location was good, it was an easy walk to the centre but quiet where we were. The street it's on is filled with lovely bars and restaurants that seemed to be used mostly by locals, and were more reasonably priced. The bar and downstairs area was lovely, it was a great place to chill or work. Breakfast was also great value for money - there is a supermarket a few mins away with pastries as well, if you are on a super tight budget. Shower was surprisingly good - it seemed quite new. Bed was comfy. Staff all lovely, nice atmosphere.

ItalyThe stail air in the dormitory🥳
The hostel is close to the historic center, a stone's throw from the windmills. The pub is gorgeous and in the morning, it serves both a sweet and savory breakfast (I recommend having breakfast here!). The staff is super friendly and hardworking, especially Veronica, a Spanish girl at the reception! The rooms, toilets and showers are very clean. I slept in a mixed dormitory and I felt comfortable because each bed is equipped with a curtain that allows you to have your privacy. I recommend it!... and I would stay here again if I return to Bruges.

NetherlandsThe breakfast is rather simple, but it's also cheap: 8 euro.
Nice and helpful staff, the beds were comfortable and private enough, the other guests were chill and I could store my bike in the locker area, which was super helpful for my peace of mind 🖤 The shower and toilets are clean, and it's only a 10 min walk to the very center of the city. I very much recommend it!

SerbiaWalls are thin, so you can hear other people talking, coughing etc. but you can get ear plugs at the receptions desk!
We loved everything! Every staff member we encountered was so nice and helpful, hostel has a bar with lots of beer and has food too that is cheaper that other places and works till 2 am, so if you want to have fun and vivid stay we recommend it! They also offer locker room service so you don’t need to worry if you’re coming early or want to take another walk on the last day of your stay, you can can also rent a bicycle for a good price. We had a private room at the top of the hostel, it was comfortable clean and we had space, breakfast was nice and you could chose preferred diet too. Location is great and it’s a quiet neighborhood, city center is near, you need about 10 minutes walking down the street to it, you can’t get lost. Bruges is like a fairytale, people are polite, nice, streets are very cute and Belfry tower is just breathtaking and you have to climb it! :)
