Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Location was a little out of the way.

Room was very humid/damp even with AC on dehumidifier mode. Space is semi basement with little natural light. Mattress on bed is uncomfortable.
The location is useful for Belize city and airport. Staff is friendly and helpful.. Convenience. Building is safe and secure. Room was fairly clean. While it isn't cheap, for Belize City it's not bad, and we couldn't find many spaces that were more affordable so it's likely reasonable.

An unexpected and last minute stay, due to the ferries being cancelled but the staff really did their best to accommodate. Clean and good facilities. Complimentary coffee, which is always a bonus.

A staff member made several inappropriate and offensive comments.
The property was fine for a one night stopover. It has a nice rooftop, cheap beers, and offered shuttles to the water boat. It was a close walk to a supermarket and several takeaway options nearby.

The place is a little bit run down. Quite a strong smell of drains coming from the bathroom.

Lady running the hotel was unwelcoming. She complained about us using the wrong sink to clean up after cooking without having shown us which sink to use (I even asked her where to cook, which was a great opportunity to show us where to clean). When we arrived there were no courtesies or welcome. Only it felt like us being there was an inconvenience to the hotel. 5% extra charge on card. No soap provided, toilet didn’t flush, some ants on the bed.
Quiet, good WiFi, clean enough room for Belize standards, AC. They were flexible in changing the booking date. Relatively cheap for the city.

The venue is out of the way in a residential neighborhood with little to see around. The manager will drive you to the airport or ferry pier, though you might be charged more than a taxi.
This is a private home with rooms at the back and on upper floors. Check-in was easy. I was given a free upgrade to a larger room which had a spacious shower and plenty of space around the bed. There's a small supermarket within walking distance.

For one night it’s fine, but these not a lot of activities around.
It was my first day and the personal been so patient and they answered my questions. They even drive me to the water taxi! 12/10 for costumer service. If you’re an alone traveller women like me. Well it’s a safe place. They take care of you.

Room is crowded, bit far away from the city, half hour by public bus, no set timetable though.
Shower pressure is great, clean room, air-conditioning all day long which is great, shop nearby, area is safe enough.

That they have many rooms, but they put everyone in one room. 5% extra charge if by card. Location is very off, and nothing to do.

A bit far from the main attractions of Belize city. Not really walking distance. Shower facilities could be improved (shower hooked up to the sink faucet). Overall, place is a bit pricey for what it is.
A/c in the room worked great. I was the only person in the dorm room so it was private and quiet. Can catch public buses into the city. The home is in a residential area so it is quiet and peaceful. Towel was provided.

They charged me 45 USD for the transfer to Bacalar (Mexico) which i later found out is 50% more expensive than what everybody else from the same agency paid (30 USD). Not fair since i always trusted my hosts. Do not book transfers with themz
Very basic place and the staff helped me with picking me up from the bus station and lifting me to the dock. Good brekfast.
