Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWish we had known about the difference in the room types- I felt a bit bad for those of us who had the newer rooms because the rooms on the older side were gorgeous.
We had multiple rooms for our family members. One side of this hotel is newer- facilities were fine, modern and clean but not necessarily charming or memorable. We had 2 rooms on the older side that were beautiful. Room 1- lovely victorian decor with high ceilings. Room 2. The attic was large but cozy, exposed beams and stone walls- with a full kitchen..it was fabulous and became the room in which we all gathered in the evening. Free coffee all day- and good coffee, was a plus! Wine on site was appreciated. We visited for Winter Carnival and all festivities were easy to walk to. The staff was great.

CanadaThe pillows and bed were not comfortable but that's just my opinion, too firm for my personal liking. More coffee and tea options would've been nice in the room.
The location was good.the staff were lovely and helpful. The room was large and very clean. Coffee and tea were available in reception . Breakfast was $15 for a buffet.

United StatesParking was listed as an amenity, but it said nowhere (I looked on Booking.com and hotel website) how much it would cost - it was around $22 a night US. The parking garage 200 yds away is cheaper, but the convenience was worth it in January.
Friendly, cozy, comfortable for a small hotel. Perfect location. We’ve stayed here on and off for years. State of the art coffee machine was a great addition - available free at all hours!

United StatesOnly thing I can think of is to just put a small safe for valuables in the room.
The staff was great. In particular Phillippe and William (Atypiq) were really helpful towards the end of the stay when I wanted to extend for one night and they helped coordinate having me stay at Atypiq for one night in light of Champlain being fully booked. In terms of the room, it was clean and well-appointed. The location was awesome too. Thanks so much. I plan on coming back.

Perfect location to visit Old Quebec City. Walkable to all the top historic areas. Plenty of restaurants to choose, little shops and a Simons dept. store. Don’t miss visiting the Museum of Civilization Liked the coffee bar at the hotel. Buffett breakfast was ok and convenient. Comfortable beds.

United KingdomSome parts of the room felt old - the door knob on the shower wouldn't shut unless closed a certain way for example. We felt the breakfast we paid for one morning was not at all worth the price, items were very basic and limited.
Location was excellent with everything we wanted to see in walking distance, but also quiet and safe. The premises were very well managed and the room was clean and well equipped. A great stay overall.

Good location. Staff is very pleasant and helpful for directions and suggestions. Bed is comfortable. Room was quiet. Make sure to reserve paid parking behind hotel ahead of arrival or download local parking app. Good coffee available in lobby all day.. Cute wine setup for happy hour. CanadaHonestly nothing I really didn't like. I would choose this hotel again if I come back to Quebec city. Maybe one small thing, if the hotel allows dog to be alone in the room for 1 hr or a short-time that would be amazing, as it would allow us to explore more great food nearby. As you know, with dog there aren't many options of restaurants.
1. Room is spacious and clean 2. Very quiet 3. Pet-friendly and there were even pet bowls prepared in the room! That was a surprisingly warm and sweet welcome! 4. Staff were very nice and recommended a few good pet-friendly restaurants to us 5. Location is perfect 6. On-site parking

CanadaThe parking lot was rather small and somewhat difficult to maneuver into and out of the space. On a more positive note it was very convenient to have a parking space so central at all.
