The sound travels a lot due to the building design so it can be a bit noisy.

We were there on one of the hottest days of summer. During my previous stay, the vents on top of the ce door were open, allowing at least a free flow of air in the cell. However, this time around, the top vent was entirely covered, making it uncomfortably hot inside the cell.

Breakfast was a good bonus, considering the price per night.

use the earplugs because it’s quite noisy at night — with no a/c the open hallway windows admitted welcome breezes but loud traffic sounds as well; also in the morning hallway entrance doors kept slamming as there’s no handle to allow anyone to close them softly… I understand it’s a historic building but certainly the doors could be easily fitted with simple handles for softer/slower closing?

The cleanliness was ok-ish as the toilets weren't clean all the time, which is understandable given the fact that there were only two toilets for a lot of people in the basement floor. However, knowing this the staff should do a better job in this regard. Also, the rooms were not well ventilated and as a result of it the clothes, shoes, towels remained dump. One important note is if you are a sensitive person please do bear in mind that you are sleeping in a former prison and so the energy there prevails. There is a good chance you will not get a goodnight sleep as well as the overall lingering weird feeling in that place. If you as a traveller need to get a proper rest, a different accommodation is highly recommended.

Overall, the accommodation was very good. Equipped in a modern style, sofa, TV, games, a lot of space for working and the breakfast is just superb. The location of the hostel is great even though if you are travelling from let's say Toronto by bus, it will take you over an hour to get to the hostel. The reception staff was helpful and friendly.

Hostel is located in the center of the city, it is around 10 minutes walk from Parliament, so all the attractions were very close. It is also close to the shopping center so it is very easy to go for a coffee and dinner, and buy all the necessary things. It is a very good location for a weekend trip so you do not waste you time for commute. Breakfast is very good, is it simple but you will find all the necessary things to start your day :) I booked one bed in a shared bedroom and I enjoyed my stay very much. It was also very interesting to take part in a jail tour.

The double rooms don't have A/C and there are not enough fans for everybody. It does get pretty hot/humid and we didn't sleep very well especially the first night

Of the three sinks in the common bathroom, one was slow to drain and one had no water from the tap. Otherwise the common shower and bathroom were very clean.

In a perfect position. Common rooms... are common so its up to you. They have a private parking in the structure, 20$. Breakfast is fine, milk coffee tea, fruits, and others.

Long line for check-in. The celss are very small. Not even room to open your bags. Breakfast was very basic.
