Booking on booking.com, due to family member have emergency medical issues and need to change schedule, through online apply for change, application for neglected, never be reply, but had to go alone, after checking out found repeated charges, solving the repeated charges by communication but there was a resort fee to be charged which is never mentioned in reservation , very disappointing experience, won't stay again!

The third time to stay , the worst feeling this time, there is no online service, ignore to guest inquiries, repeat charges. Although it was solved after communication, but there are still implied charges, will not stay again.

We asked for early check in and they did not ever answer so we went to the hotel. At 2:30 the room was not ready and was told that they would call. They did not. At check in at 5 when told the front desk we never got a call back I was dismissed saying that they were busy. Sorry not sorrry. Normally there are beautiful bathrobes in the room and there have not been the last 3 visits. Had a balcony room the balcony had bird poop everywhere and looked like it was not cleaned. The margaritas we ordered were undrinkable.

The manager at the front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was double charged for my stay and everything was great right up until I had to deal with him to get my refund back. My interaction with him completely ruined my stay and I will not be back again.

The location was amazing, most of the staff we dealt with were so nice and accommodating.

We booked a queen room with a view. The room was dark, the windows small, and it looked nothing like the picture in the ad. The bathroom was VERY small. The carpet was worn.

Room was smaller than expected. It's immediately obvious that the price goes towards the many different amenities and activities available on the property. For a one night stay, like we did, I wouldn't recommend it as we couldn't take advantage of them. If you come, stay for a week at least!

Booked this place last minute as a storm had damaged our original accomodations. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful, timeless even. Wish we could've stayed longer.

They over charged my credit card because they did not have it inputted as paid. So I had to sit over night with $750 on my cc. You can’t check in until 4. They charge you a resort fee which you can’t really use because of check in and check out times. Ordered two wine glasses to the room and they never came. Bed was not comfortable and they were teenagers screaming through the halls

The attention to detail. There was no ice bucket, coffee cups or creamer in our room. The toilet seat was loose. Our room had not been made up by 5:00 pm so we had to search out someone to do it. While that was being done we made our way down to the verandah for a latte only to be told their machine was not working. Only one machine in the whole hotel??!!! And the verandah had used dishes and trash lying around. The main dining room menu was totally uninspiring, so we ate elsewhere. Breakfast not included for the rate we paid - how lacking and cheap!

I was very excited to finally get away for the weekend with my husband on a romantic getaway as we have not been able to get away as much as we would like due to work. It started off well as it always has in the past, the Algonquin is one of our favorite places to stay. Upon check in we were not helped to our room at all with our luggage. Once in the room we were all set to enjoy a bit of downtime before heading out to eat but the neighboring room had other plans for us. A large dog next to us began barking...and barking. I could only assume that it was left unattended as I can't begin to imagine an owner allowing it to go on like it did. I don't like to make a big deal out of things so we got ready and left. We returned an hour and half later to the same continuous barking. After staying for a few minutes more we had to leave again to get away from the noise. At this point I am furious as we are unable to enjoy our time away due to someone else's careless abuse of their pet. We returned another hour or so later by this time it was almost 9pm and the dog was STILL barking!!! I couldn't believe someone hadn't called about it so I was forced to call the front desk. Keep in mind I have booked well in advance with no discount on the room at all. At $500/ a night I should not have to deal with this level of obsurdity or ignorance. They sent a lovely young lady up and she went in and found the animal left alone. So she told me she would deal with it and apologized. Moments later I received a rather rude phone call from the front desk saying that I was to address my barking dog asap! To which I replied, I do not have a dog, I was the one that filed the complaint! By this time it's almost 10pm. I have multiple videos of the incident and quite honestly I feel like the whole ordeal ruined my romantic night away with my husband.

Staff used her key to enter our room two hours before check out and we were still in there. I was laying on the bed and she walked in then right back out. No knocking. That was the second time someone came. First time they knocked at least.

Worst room we have ever stayed in! Our first visit we stayed in a lovely room with a little balcony and had a view of the green space (2nd floor?) This visit I requested a room with a view of the courtyard/green space like before but our room on 4th floor was something to be desired. We might as well be in a jail cell. The window was tiny and the room very dark, even with lights on. And because of the jail cell type window there was no garden view as the window was in a little nook that enhanced the jail cell feel. After requesting a nice garden view type I was flabbergasted they reserve these types of rooms for $200+/ night. I would have paid less and better view at at a Days inn in any other city. There wasn’t even a little sitting room area in our room? We couldn’t even lounge around and read or enjoy a drink together. It made our overall stay unpleasant and not relaxing. I wish I had walked out and requested another room the moment I unlocked the door! We have stayed here previous times (4th visit) - first visit was top notch and every stay since has gone downhill. Brutal. I booked well in advance, I don’t make many outrageous requests- just a nice room with a “garden view” and I get a jail cell window with little to no natural light. God forbid there was a fire and could not exit via door, I don’t know how a grown man could escape the porthole (is this up to fire code?) I don’t write negative reviews like this or comment but this room warranted a review it was so so bad. My long weekend was very very disappointing due to our accommodations. Oh and the wifi doesn’t work on the 4th floor (at least the weekend we stayed) and neither did the TV.

Surface legal hotel is attractive and appealing. Staff are pleasant and friendly.

Our stay was for 4 days. Housecleaning was earlier than we were ready in the am and thus didn't get our room cleaned. We had to make repeat requests for clean towels. No mini fridge in the room

There had been a storm and we were not going to be able to travel to be there for Saturday night. As the roads were expected to be better on Christmas day(Sunday). I called the hotel to confirm we would be there for Sunday night .. and I understood I’d have to pay for both nights … but please do not cancel. we had not been able to travel to Canada since before Covid to see my brother, his kids, and grandkids. In fact we had never even met one of the kids who was born during Covid. My 90 year old mom was very excited. we drove 4.5 hrs for Christmas with them .. left to go to our hotel. when we arrived we were told we didn’t have a reservation and even though I had called that your policy was to cancel the reservation. Never been more disappointed in your company…. nothing like having to drive home another 4.5 hrs on Christmas night with my 90 year old Mom. Won’t be using your app/website on the future.

We felt like we were staying in a dog kennel. There were way too many, snapping dogs in the staircases and in the main lobby, some sitting on the very couches we had sat on to play board games. I love most dogs but not when I’m paying for ambience. We also resented having no choice but buffet on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and the housekeeping staff did not know their jobs although they were trying their pleasant best.

Our room was lovely and the main floor of the hotel is very “grand dame-ish”.

There was NO internet reception in the hotel rooms on any network. This really is not acceptable. Also, in the lobby and the reception areas in the late evening there was no Internet reception, like they switch it off. In the morning there was reception in the lobby and reception areas, but still no reception in the bedrooms.

The people were very helpful, great service and friendly.
