Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

TurkeyIt was an incredibly charming town with amazing nature. I’m so glad I didn’t hesitate to go there from Zurich. The hotel owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. They contributed to our plans and gave us great recommendations.

GermanyNothing.
The hotel is in a perfect location in the center of the town. The owners/staff we super friendly, really doing all they could to make your stay comfortable. There were a small number of park spaces available next to the hotel, or a public car park with many spaces and pretty cheap just 1 minute walk over the bridge. The check in to the room was super fast and the room itself really spacious, traditionally decorated and inviting. There was an Italian/Pizza restaurant on site which was pretty good and the breakfast in the mornings was also nice. There are a number of bars and restaurants within 1/2 minutes walk. There is also a small lift in the hotel, which was really helpful especially having a baby stroller. Would stay again and recommend.

United StatesNothing.
Everything about this hotel is great, but the biggest contributing factor to our satisfaction is with the level of service and care that we received from the General Manager overseeing his family's property. He (Mathias) is one of the finest hospitality professionals I've met and was unbelievably thoughtful and inclusive with me and my kids. The location for Appenzell is perfect...no noise, easy to walk everywhere, and a beautiful facility from the basement to the top floor.

United StatesThere is nothing to dislike.
Hotel Adler and Appenzell was the last leg of our Switzerland journey. From the moment we walked in the door of the Adler Hotel, Mathias made us feel like a friend. He's very good at taking care of the hotel and its customers. We were "lucky" enough to stay in the Broger Suite, which was huge for us. The breakfast was good, the dinner at Little Italy was fantastic; the location, the hotel, the staff, was all top notch. It was a terrific and meaningful end to a great trip to Switzerland. Stay here..... you will love it!

United StatesStaying here was a fantastic experience. We stayed in the Junior Suite with Mountain View, and it was absolutely remarkable what the proprietor has done with this space. Absolutely the most comfortable and adorable small hotel we have stayed in Switzerland!! The roomy suite had views to the local mountain peaks, and was adorned with a large family-style table & chairs, comfortable furniture including a recliner and a couch, a flat-screen TV, and even a piano with busts of Beethoven and Brahms (I think, anyway). Just couldn't have been cozier!! Excellent breakfast. And it was clear the staff are devoted to the comfort and convenience of their guests. Like helping me carry the pizzas from the (excellent) Italian restaurant up to the room the evening my wife wasn't feeling well, Or making a suggestion to visit a local site we weren't even aware of, but turned out to be fantastic. Thank You Thank You Thank You for a moving and memorable stay in your establishment! We hope to be back someday!!

The location is at the entrance to the historic part of town. We loved having a bakery and brewery close by. The hotel restaurant has great Italian food. We loved sitting on the hotels terrace and people watching. The room was exactly as described so there were no surprises. The staff is very friendly and quite helpful. If you enjoy the small cities/towns in Switzerland, you know that they all have churches with bells. Some with more than one church wich means more bells. We were never woken up at night with the ringing. There is a COOP grocery store, about a 5 minute walk. The train station is a short 4 minute walk. The scenery from the room is great.

United StatesHonestly, nothing!
Firstly, we got upgraded for free!?! What an amazing surprise! Secondly, the place was amazing. The location could not be better, with parking and activities just around the corner. The breakfast was pretty basic but there were some local touches. The room was pretty special, it had a traditional feel, was very clean and comfortable, and it even had a piano. Lastly, big thanks to the staff! They were very accommodation!

SwitzerlandI was travelling with my sister who was visiting me from Scotland. The hotel proved to be a great success with us both. Being in the centre of Appenzell we had everything on our doorstep. Friendly staff, room/hotel spotlessly clean, and we enjoyed our meal at "Little Italy".

AustraliaThis hotel is centrally located and close to the train station. There is a wonderful Italian Restaurant at the bottom and they also have a take-away menu. Rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff are helpful however Matthew is in another league - he went out of his way to make my stay special and had helpful advice about the local area including hiking tips.

United StatesI don't really have any downfalls. We truly did enjoy our stay here.
We loved staying at Hotel Adler! The small family that runs this hotel is the absolute nicest and so accommodating. We ended up having to cancel one night of our two night stay and he made to sure make that happen for us. He also spoke excellent English which was nice to have recommendations for around town and the local scene. We did not stay in the actual hotel itself, but rather a few rooms are located in a building across the alleyway. The rooms were brand new and modern. Super clean and a nice bathroom with ease of use of an elevator to get to the 4th floor. The hotels location is perfect for walking around downtown. We ate supper that night there as well and it was delicious Italian food. The breakfast the next morning was a small assortment of cereals, granolas, nuts, yogurts, meats, breads, and drinks. Added bonus was free parking for our car.
