We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe room was very small and so was the bed. The bathroom was tiny too and no room on the sink for things. But it was clean and cozy. Most of the personal were very helpful, but the one at my check in was not. So that was mixed.
The location. It was safe and beautiful to walk around at night.

United StatesThe staff and the location were excellent. The hotel/room interiors were interesting and unique. Cost was high, but so was all of the other hotels, restaurants & stores of Zurich's Alstat district. But the one shortcoming was the room air conditioning systems. They were not prepared to handle the high temperatures we experienced while in Zurich.

CanadaAir conditioning is restricted by the hotel and not effective. This is ridiculous, especially because the rooms border a street with partying all night, so opening windows not really an option.

United Statesit’s an old building and so not surprisingly, air conditioning was not as powerful as we would have liked, took a long time for room to cool off. heavy duvet cover with no blanket or top sheet didn’t help. tub for shower was hard to get into and not super clean. bed was fine for one night but not that comfortable. expensive. if you book direct, apparently, there are a few perks, including discount at hotel restaurant.
good location, about 10 min walk from train station. helpful staff. didn’t have time for breakfast but there was a good variety of options. room was a little bigger than expected based on photos.

The location is amazing, the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you want cheese fondue, the restaurant is attached to the hotel and they provide free bottled water and soda, which is fantastic.

United StatesThe Internet was very slow, basic breakfast, the walls are thin, and there is major construction on the street so it doesn't look as cute as in the pictures. This will probably change since it looks temporary. March, 2024.

BelgiumBars in the neighbourhood. Bed was not very comfortable, with a protective layer on the mattress that tends to get folded in certain areas, creating ripples which you feel through the cover.
Location is great, right in the center of Zürich, albeit in a neighbourhood that is a bit loud with bars and restaurants. On the other hand, that means you have those at walking distance. It was carnival at the time of my visit, so the activity on the streets may have been more than usual. (I am not talking about the fanfare and people in costume, as that was obviously an exception) A new lobby was being built at the time of my visit, so I will not comment on that. Breakfast was great and in the hotel's very cosy fondue restaurant. That comes with the downside that there is a strong cheese smell at all times. Although you could see that as a part of the Swiss experience.

SwitzerlandNoise - not from construction which I was given notice of after my booking (although the I did have the option to cancel due to the short notice) - but from the other rooms. I could hear everything from conversations to footsteps from the rooms above and adjacent to me as well as loud noises and laughter from the courtyard outside my window. I wore noise canceling headphones throughout my stay because I had to work. My room was supposed to be sound proof. It wasn’t. They should be more transparent about their razor thin walls.
The location was fairly convenient. It was annoying that ubers couldn’t get in but the walk to the road is short and pleasant.

United KingdomVery noisy at night, people partying all night outside the hotel and the windows are not well isolating. Then at 9am the workers started drilling, although I was told no renovation work would take place on Saturday. Not a good place if you want to sleep in. I was there for one night only and was hoping for a good night sleep.

BrazilHotel is above a busy restaurant - you have to bear with a terrible food smell from reception up to your room door (odor resembling some sort of sausages dish? not sure, but it was strong and really bad). Other than this very unpleasant smell, breakfast with close to none vegan options. I get that the country is not exactly know as the most vegan friendly, but also can't see how the hospitality wont adapt (and benefit!) from being more diverse and open when it comes to food availability.
Very comfortable room - great bed, clean and spacious bathroom. Restaurant below - although busy - does not interfere w noise when inside the room.

AustriaThere are three reasons why I rate my overnight stay not so good: (Rating refers to single room 105) Firstly and most importantly, the mattress squeaks and cracks so loudly every time you turn over that it wakes you up. A restful night's sleep looks different but one can expect a good rest for over EUR 200 per night in a single room. Secondly, the restaurant in the building served me old and reheated 'Rösti' - despite a considerable wait for the food. The air in the restaurant, at least during my visit, was as if you were sitting directly in the kitchen and unfortunately your clothes smelled the same when you left the restaurant. Thirdly, the personal data enquiry at check-in is extensive and the guests have to type it in themselves - although most of it should be there anyway. I am sure that this hotel could offer more, but unfortunately this was not the case during my stay.
Friendly supportive and professional staff; location of the hotel; restaurant is located in the hotel; cleanliness of the room and the restaurant.

AustraliaThe noise from the road works on Rosengasse. It was absolutely terrible. Vehicles and loud voices started at 6 am. Then on the stroke of 7 am jackhammers went into deafening action. I could not walk down the Rosengasse. Absolutely terrible. I was sleep deprived. Management should have informed me and all guests of the disruption. I complained upon checkout and was compensated with a Toblerone. Seriously? Hotel Adeler this is not good enough and now I doubt I will stay with you again. I am very disappointed.

SwitzerlandI was given a room in the first floor, next to the hallway where people were drinking and talking loudly. I asked for a more quiet room and had to pay extra for an upgrade. However, the whole building is very noisy, not even considering the bars and restaurants outside. I was woken up plenty of times by loud noises in the middle of the night. Breakfast was minimalist. Staff was OK but far from Swiss standards in terms of customer care.

ThailandHotel advertises parking which isn't strictly correct as you need to park away from the hotel in a central parking garage. The drive to access the hotel is within a pedestrian area which is very crowded. Room was a little small.
Perfect location the heart of old town with all the attractions within walking distance. Apparently the Cheese Fondu is very popular with large queues waiting to eat in the restaurant.
