Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

getting there was difficult because of extensive road works and blocks in the surrounding area. clearly not their fault

We had stayed in a large and a beautiful room, space was not a problem. But for privacy could have been better, if there was an isolation between bathroom and the room. There was a door :) but there was a 5 cm height difference between floor and the door, tiny difference makes a difference!
breakfast was super delicious and there were a lot of things to choose, everyone could find something they like. The coffee and tea was good too, you could make your own tea within different sorts. I would definitely come back.

The queen bed was two seperate beds put together. As a couple, we would’ve preferred one single bed. The bathroom door could also be improved for extra privacy.
The location and breakfast were excellent.

Our stay has been excellent mostly thanks to the staff at the hotel. They have been very professional and kind. The hotel is in-line with the online description, providing key facilities and it is easy accesibile to key landmarks in Basel. It is very clean and a good choice for both leisure and business travellers. We send our kind regards to Alex who welcomed us at the reception. He made our stay memorable and we are glad we had the opportunity to meet him.

Room was too warm and had to open window at night, but was too noisy from road traffic. Sound proofing wasn’t great- you could hear cleaning staff in upstairs rooms moving furniture around and phone was making random sounds in the middle of the night!
Good breakfast and it was really great that we got travel pass on local transport for the days we were staying. It did make a difference by taking bus to hotel from main centre. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Got bottled water but only on first night…

There wasn't much I didn't like. thought this was a fantastic hotel for the price. It is about a 20min walk from old town but trams/buses so easy to use. I am nit picking here but pillows weren't very comfortable.... I could have asked reception for different ones though!
Staff: Reception staff were so welcoming and helpful. Restaurant staff could not have worked harder. Great customer service makes a good stay a great stay- many more expensive hotels could learn from the Dorint Basel City. Room: Well equipped with tea/coffee/water and complimentary mini bar. Comfortable bed. Food and drink: Breakfast was fantastic, great selection of hot and cold food which was kept well stocked and clean. Nice little bar. Only had a drink and breakfast. Didn't eat dinner but the menu looked nice and fairly priced.

The room has all the comforts (air condition, fridge, coffee machine). It was really comfy and very clean. The accommodation was excellent, the breakfast had quality and variety and the personnel was kind and really helpful especially the man who made our check in. Highly recommended

Room is a bit small but understandable for the regular hotel.
