We have a family of 5 and had to rent two rooms resulting in enough sleeping room for 7 or 8. It would be nice if the hotel would convert a larger room to be able to sleep 5. There was likely enough space in one of our rooms to do this.

Poor maintenance of appartment facilities, "digital" shower straight from the 80s, that's not even fixed properly to the wall. Tiles in shower repaired with random grout combination that makes it look really shabby. Collection of cables hanging from TV on the wall. Automated toilet - sure, but of course it's broken. Broken lightbulbs. Used water bottle on the table left by the cleaning staff. Also, if you like noise until midnight by people sitting downstairs, choose this place. Sure, enough space but this sort of disrepair and lack of attention at this price and in Switzerland? No thanks.

Unfortunately, the city festival in Amriswil was this weekend and the main stage was set up right in front of the hotel and sleeping was not an option! The price for this weekend was to high and the owner did not think to inform me about the festival. Not very hospitable!

Basically, the location is super central and there are many activities in walking distance.

the bells of the cathedral go every quarter during the whole night. 100 meters from your window it’s simply impossible to sleep.

1) I've contacted the place before, to ask if they have a car spot (and if we can leave the car for the day after our stay). I was told that there will be no problem. Once we came, there were no free spots in front of the hotel (probably used by restaurant guests). Upon asking where should I park, I was told I can use a public car park but my car must be gone by 8AM... 2) Place is just above one italian restaurant and close to another one - till late night (or rather early morning) it was laud/someone was having quite laud discussion. As place has no air-conditioning, you can either sleep in non-ventilated room or hear all the discussions 3) Each room furniture seemed to be taken from different place - e.g. a 'bar' fridge that was laud and with constant light on; table in completely different style and with broken leg, etc. 4) Visible wiring in the bathroom + doors not working correctly.

The only positive things about the place were that: - it had roof and shower had warm water, - possibility for early checkout (allowing to leave the place as soon as you can, if you have made a mistake and reserve there the night stay). Nothing more to add.

When I arrived at the hotel I was told the previous guest had decided to extend the stay and there was no room for me. The staff seemed to think this was OK as they had "tried to call me to inform me about this". They had arranged another hotel a significant drive away - when I arrived there the hotel was so appalling I decided to leave rather than stay.
