I didn't realize I'd be in a bunkbed and I had a foot injury that made climbing the long ladder difficult. Everyone in my room slept quite early (lights out after 10) and woke up at 6 am, so this we difficult as well for me. But It is a hostel, so I should have expected it.

The staff was very helpful and the location excellent.

I can't really think of anything i didn't like to be honest .

The price is very reasonable and location is great ,supermarket two minutes away ,main train station five minutes.I don't usually stay in hostels ,I'm a man in my 50s ,but the vibe is so laid back ,staff are VERY helpful .Being able to cook your own food and wash your clothes free of charge is also very convenient. I've stayed there a few times ,so that says a lot .

I had a great stay at Basel Backpack. The staff were nice and welcoming. The common room was great for doing some work. The rooms and the hostel were clean.

The mattress on the bed really needs to be changed. I understand that a hostel won't have hotel-class mattresses and I like a hard mattress but it had a dip in the middle you could feel the wood underneath through it and I was glad I only had one night sleeping on it. Also be aware that this private room was on the 2nd floor of a building with only stairs so if you have luggage or are not so mobile this might be an issue for you.

Uncomplicated check-in with friendly staff who offered extra information. The room was spacious and clean and light and really cozy. Showers, toilets etc were nearby and clean. We stayed for one night as we were visiting friends and family in Basel and it was perfect. The location is also good - quite central but still very quiet.

One of the housekeeper was extremely rude to a guest. One guest was sleeping at 11 am and she insisted on making a lot of noise and refuse to close the room after cleaning for no reason? She had a big argument with him.

Maybe the corridors are too dark. Also it was a bit tricky to find the hostel in the beggining.

Big hostel and nice staff. The showers and toilets are big as well. Perfect if you are on a budget. The kitchen is very useful. They provide free public transport tickets.

I enjoyed staying in Basel Backpack. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I loved the concept of having plants in the bathrooms and other rooms.

You have to pay for a towel. I don't understand this tendency. The hostel is located near the tram stop (1-2 min walk).

The hostel provides a free card for public transport. It really saves money as you can use any means of transportation, as much as you need, even for getting from the airport. There's a kitchen where you can cook whatever you want and a fridge where you can keep your stuff.
