just what you would expect from a Marriott hotel. It's clean, the bedroom facilities are great. The size is great. The overall comfort is great. Access to everything is easy. Staff are exceptional in knowledge and helpfulness.

I did not have breakfast as CHF 40 is too expensive for my needs. The armchair is not very comfortable for a evening in.

Location was great for Morgestraich - just a 10 minute walk. Room was a good size.

Breakfast and shower

The breakfast was very good, well stocked, all tastes and diet needs catered for. Caring staff. Bed was a little firm, and pillows soft. Very glad we stayed there and would stay there again. It is a little further from the old town but a tram is at the door and the hotel gave us a free tram pass.

Room was slightly overheated (can be adjusted) and the heater (fan) made some noise during the night.

Hotel is conveniently situated next to the messe and tram stops. The tram brings you to the city center in a few minutes. A stay at Marriott grants you the Basel Card (free public transportation + 50% off activities such as museums). That was a huge plus. The room is spacious and clean. Modern room + bathroom. I appreciated the kind gesture of a hand written note and chocolate cake for my birthday.

• not even a bottle of water in the fridge and didn't even put one in any of the days we stayed • when we asked at the reception in one of the evenings (for sunday night, since everything was closed in the city), we were told they didn't have at the moment and will send someone to our room so we ended up waiting for more than half hour • dinner was also disappointing since we wanted to order beef from the menu and…surprize…we were told that it was over for that evening • the heating system is not really efficient and effective

Nothing in particular, especially since I had expectations for a 4-star Marriott hotel. The truth is that we paid everything as requested: accommodation, guarantee, breakfast, city tax, but did not receive everything that was expected in return.

100 CHF refundable deposit against each room not advertised on booking.com was not a problem but being aware prior to stay would’ve been beneficial.

The view of the room was bad, -there were no view at all.

The check-in staff was friendly and helpful, especially the blond young guy (I’m sorry I didn’t take his name). There were a crazy hot sauna which was pretty necessary after the freezing cold of Basel. The bed was sooooo comfy.

The TV was a little bit old school. No connection to the Netflix, the screen mirror did not work. That was the only thing I did not like.

The communication from the staff was so so poor that we actually had to travel to Basel to pick up a bag that they'd received on our behalf but didn't bother to communicate with us. Still very upset about this, took no accountability whatsoever.

Excellent location with transport connections and not far from the Main station.
