Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Everything was exceptional. This is a beautiful hotel, the beds are amazing, the smell throughout the hotel incredible. The staff is outstanding

On our second day we took a slow day and did not out into Basel until 2pm. When we returned our room had not been serviced (?).
The room was very spacious and quiet. We would have preferred a non-connecting room as for a short time we could hear someone talking on their phone! The bed was very comfortable and bathroom was clean with a great shower. Location is in smaller Basel so 20 minute walk to old town.

The price requested albeit on high season is egregious given the limited offering of the hotel.
Its a well located hotel for Art Basel and clean with an excellent breakfast buffet.

- My room was next to the tram/train track. The room was noisy and shaking from the trams almost all night. Even earplugs didn't help. I barely slept during my stay there. The room was very noisy. The windows remind of 80'. Zero insulation. I could also hear neighbours from upstairs. - Bed sheets looked like they were washed a million times. For a 4-star hotel, this is a letdown. No pillow menu, pillows super soft. - Design reminds of 90'. Cheap furniture, cheap carpet, cheap floor. Boring bathroom, old doors, not a 4 star experience, I would say my room looked like a 3 star hotel at best and I paid as if I would be staying in the 6 star luxuries hotel in Emirates. - No bottled water every day. They say you can drink tap water...what if I don't want to drink tap water? - No slippers, no bathrobes, for such a hotel, funny they don't provide it. - They ask a deposit for every night, for what? - Breakfast overpriced, boring, low quality food, if you are vegan, there is nothing for you to eat except bread and vegetables. For over 40 CHF, there should be more choice. The last day I had to leave at 4 am to the aiport, so they provided a breakfast package from which I could eat only a sandwich, so again over 30 CHF for a sandwich. I didn't see plant milk either, I asked for pancakes, but they said they have only cow's milk. Again, ok for a b&b, but not a hotel of this prestige. - The hotel is overpriced. The location is bad. It is in between a road junction, very noisy and ugly part of the city. There are plenty of modern hotels in Basil for half a price, so I recommend you check those first. I had no choice because everything was booked that weekend. I've heard other people complaining about the same things as me.

Upon entering the hotel, they immediately charge a 500 franc deposit. There is not a single bottle of water, also the minibar is empty. No parking! The air conditioner blew cold and the room was heated by a heater with a fan. The bathroom is not well stocked. The restaurant is closed for the New Year.
Reception people are nice. The room was clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The water in the bathroom is instantly warm.

For such an expensive hotel, you expect that they offer slippers. When requested, they said they will bring them to my room.
It's 5 min away from the Messe.
