Turning into the corridor to the rooms after stepping out of the lift, you had to take a couple of steps before the light automatically turned on - very nerve-wracking the first time as it was impossible to see if there was a step. Luckily someone else came up the stairs who knew that there was no step in the corridor. Please note that I cannot remember which floor this was and it may not be true for all floors.

Location - easy walk from the station and to local restaurants. Would have had a nice view if the clouds had not been so low. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast and I chose to eat elsewhere for dinner, so I cannot comment on the food. I'd stay again and hope for better weather.

Good location near the funicular. The rooms are quite old, and the floors creak a lot. The view from the balcony is great. Parking is free. Loved having a jacuzzi in the room, it was perfect for relaxing after a hike.

No kettle, microwave or any dinnerware/utensils (beyond wine glasses). The outdoor pool was closed.

The rolling out spa-bath, view from our balcony, hotel pool and the hotel breakfast were all highlights. There was a small bar fridge in our room. Great location for the Oeschinensee cable car and hike.

The whole experience was very nice. The staff was very friendly, the room was very cozy and the breakfast was great & with a lot of options! I would definitely recommend to people, and would stay there again! The view from my room was also insane, it made every penny I spent worth it!

I didn’t love that there was no fan in the room - it gets sun all day and it was really hot. 🥵 That was the only thing I didn’t like.

Super cute place! We had a wonderful view from the balcony, and the staff was excellent. The restaurant was good and they put up with playing cards for a few hours.

Thin walls

The hotel was a 5 min walk from Kandersteg station which made it convenient for us since we took the train to/from Zurich. It was also a 10-12 min walk to the gondola that took you to lake Oeschinensee. It was more like a small apartment with a kitchen inside, which we loved. The grocery store was right across the street. It saved us a lot of money cooking our own meals and we enjoyed eating on the balcony with the mountain and river view. However, the walls are very thin and they didn’t provide any toiletries besides the soap/ shampoo. I would book this hotel again. It was clean, location convenient, and the view was absolutely beautiful!

This is the place to stay if you want something a bit special - the rooms have a jacuzzi that slides out from the bathroom onto the balcony at the press of a button! The whole room was great and the staff were very friendly. We had a great meal in the restaurant too.
