Room, breakfast, and location met or exceeded our expectations. Parking is available right in front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room with balcony was very cosy and functional. The hotel is ideally located in the center of the village, the station of the cable car to lake Oeschinen is within 10 minutes walking distance.

Room was fine, the shower poor and uncomfortable. The location excellent, close to shopping and train station. The Hungarian staff was extremely helpful, efficient and FRIENDLY. Will come back to the Hotel as soon as we can.

This review is regarding the restaurant, the owner is rude and unpleasant. We had dinner, the food was good but the whole experience wasn’t as much. Recommend the hotel only, several food options around Kandersteg. In addition, the reception is not working past 7pm, take this into consideration on arrival.

The hotel is terrific, the first time the rooms look better than as advertised.

Got charged for breakfast, which was the only place in our 5 hotels that did that. Guess I missed it wasnt included, and was seriously over priced upon learning this at check out.

The sliding spa tub rooms are awesome, was really nice to sit in after a long day hiking. Very unique and loved the location. Hotel was nice overall.

If I had to nitpick I would like to see a hot water maker in the rooms and the bacon to be a little more crispy for the buffet in the morning. Which over was very good in my opinion.

I was impressed with the small single room that I had. The balcony was an added bonus enjoyed the views. The front desk and restaurant staff were very helpful and courteous. Great location only a 5 min walk to the train station and a 15 min walk to the cable car to head up to Oeschinen Lake.

Nothing it was perfect

Incredible value for money. I stayed in 10 different hotels while in Switzerland and this was the best by far, also was very very good value for money. Had an incredible night sleep, after averaging 5 hours a night throughout my travels I slept for 9 hours here because the bed was so comfy and the walls were either sound proof or my neighbours were silent 🤣 would visit again in a heartbeat. The staff on reception and in the buffet in the morning are all incredible, do everything they can to help you, store luggage and organise guest cards as well as giving advice and ringing me and calling me down to ensure I had my guest card to save money on my excursions. Cannot rate this place highly enough

This Chalet-hotel is really on a high level. located literally in the middle of Kandersteg main road. in-front of a supermarket & 10mins walk to Oeschinensee gondola. Very nice & clean facilities. A very friendly & helpful guy in the reception, who gave me a discount voucher for the gandola, free bus ride & discount to Blausee. bottom line - AMAZING STAY. will come back.

I don't think it makes sense to require guests to privately book the spa area, charging them 20 CHF extra for one hour. I was really looking forward to the spa experience, but obviously decided to refrain from it under these conditions (and use the spa of another hotel). Why not, for example, increasing the room price by 10-15 CHF by night and keeping the spa area open for all guests to use freely between, say, 3 and 9pm? Also, some of the restaurant staff seemed rather grumpy. One night, I was hardly allowed into the restaurant at 8:10pm, even though the kitchen was supposed to be open until 8:30pm and the restaurant until 9:30pm. Then I was basically asked to leave the hotel bar at 9:40pm because staff wanted to go home. On two evenings, what seemed to be the owner and a staff member had rather contentious arguments (incl. about whether some staff members were unduly consuming drinks from the hotel bar) in front of me, while I was sitting in the bar - just created a somewhat strange atmosphere. I understand it was out of the main season, but still, it just didn't seem like all staff members were ready to welcome guests and provide them with the holiday experience that the hotel has the potential for...

Nice room, and the sliding bathtub is of course absolutely spectacular. This alone was worth the stay. Also enjoyed the heated indoor swimming pool.

No coffee/tea in the rooms

Stunning views of the mountains (and starry nights!) from a long balcony, cozy rooms with an amazing bath tub. Loved the pool and the bar area too. Perfect for a quiet weekend away in the mountains! Will be returning to Kandersteg - such a beautiful place.

The breakfast was average, with less generous top ups if you were coming nearer the end of breakfast!

Such a lovely hotel with a very friendly and helpful receptionist, we were impressed with the room too (receiving an upgrade) and the beds were super comfy with an amazing bath - thank you! The location is perfect, with parking right outside, and we were able to walk to goldalas to commence our daily walks. Highly recommend because of the location.

I was very disappointed in no coffee in the room . I have never been at a Hotel anywhere that did not have a in-room coffee available . When we went to get one downstairs to have in our room we did not feel welcome to that option and understood that we had to pay ~ I also have never been informed that in order to order off the menu we had to have order something to drink.... therefore we did not return for dinner the following night. I am only saying this in hopes that these things get attention as we thought the Hotel itself was awesome as was the location .

On the plus side ~ the room was really nice and loved the tub and size of room. Also the location was really nice and close to public transport.
