Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Not like the photos at all, the room was minuscule and the toilet was in the room, with no walls, just a glass. Not very nice if you're not traveling solo...it should've been mentioned

Internet was very poor.in my room. It dropped in and out every 10 seconds. I Had to sit in the foyer to do emails.Also given Basel and s a major Swiss city the TV did not offer any English-speaking channels. Because the internet was non existent I as unable to download any programs on my iPad.
Location very central, staff particularly attentive, and room very comfortable.,mini bar ( but no UHT milk)

The hotel is located walking distance to old town, which is perfect 😍 Room was clean and cosy. Perfect for a city break weekend. What we loved most was super nice staff. Everyone was really helpful and welcoming. We’ve been given lots of local restaurants recommendations and a talk about local history and upcoming festival. We loved a stay in the Hotel du Commerce. Thank you for your hospitality 😍

I was unaware that we had to pay for overnight parking. I thought it was included in our room rental price.
The hotel was in a great location--directly across from the convention center, and within a few minutes walking distance from the bus and train stops. The staff was very friendly and got us checked in quickly.

The Bathroom door was a Glass door and didn't shut completely. So not as much privacy as hoped. Room was really tiny for 3 people. For just sleeping perfectly fine, for chilling around, not enough space.

Location: close to train station, very close to Messeplatze, Communication: responsive to my inquiry, share Basel card before we arrive. I also received very clear instruction about how to arrive at hotel via public transportation. Service: we received very good service. Kitchen stuff helped us to heat our own food with oven; we can leave our luggage at reception after check out; room service found thing we forgot in room and put it on my luggage

Poor wifi signal, I had to walk out of the room to find a spot with good signal.
The staff at the reception are so nice and friendly. The room is spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect.

The breakfast was extremely expensive - especially for what you got. Basically a continental breakfast for 20 swiss francs! No hot food, no fruit ... not worth it and disappointing.
The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The room and bathroom is spacious. Appreciated the parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

I had a reservation for a Premium room, but we arrived early and asked (we did not insist) if we could check in earlier. No one informed us and we were placed in the back of the hotel in annex rooms several classes lower than the booked one. We had no time to complain and ask for relocation. We did not receive any compensation. The room was cold, they brought us a heater for heating.
Good location. Clean bed linen.

During check-in process, lady at desk wasnt helpfull. She asked my name, I shown my identity card and provided name & family-name, she couldnt find reservation record, she was too difficult. Then she noticed that her records were arranged according to family-name. She was angry and asked as why I didnt provide family name. She was the only person we had difficulties. The rest of the staff was helpfull. Besides being too small, room quality was acceptible.
It was close to tram station and 2 stop away from old city center.

We had a little hiccup with the taxi booked by the hotel for the airport run on our way home. Didn't show up and we had to do a mad dash for the tram and bus to get our flight at the airport. The manager did his best but still no taxi after booking it the night before and we even double checked the booking that evening before our trip. These things happen
