The warm water could have been a little warmer, but this is complaining on a higher level as I always take extremely hot showers.

The hotel staff went out of their way to guarantee us as much comfort as possible. They even asked us beforehand if we wanted to have breakfast which then was served promptly during our stay. The room was very large and comfortable. I actually slept so well that in the morning, I first thought that I‘m at home.

Hotel Engel is located in the middle of the old town. Even though it's in the city center you can't hear the street noise. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The lady at the reception is really attentive and kind.

No staff to check you in or assist after 8pm weekdays. We arrived late due to traffic delays en route and we’re given self check in instructions. While efficient, this is impersonal and not particularly welcoming for a hotel of this standard and price. We saw one friendly staff member during our stay who was expected to run the breakfast room and reception same time. We were also told that we had been allocated a room on the third floor with Mountain View but on arrival had been switched to the second floor with a view of the street, with no explanation as to why, and no staff on site available to query the change.

There are restaurants and pubs close to the hotel, so it can get a little noisy at night. Not a problem if you keep the windows shut though.

No air conditioning but there was a fan in the room. I don’t mind opening windows but there were no screens and we also had some street noise in the evening so I had to use the sound matching app on my phone. Wi-Fi was a little slow. On the last day, they told me I had to pay a balance for the room but I told them it was totally paid thru Booking.com and they resolved the mistake quickly and with no resistance.

Good location - three minute walk from train station. Clean. Hotel staff was pleasant. Beds were comfortable. Cold water dispenser on the second floor and free coffee on first floor were nice touches.
