Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The need to use the card to unlock the bedroom, locker and bathroom, it makes you feel safe.

It's definitely more for school/tour groups. Not social at all, not great for solo travellers to meet other people. Rooms incredibly hot in heatwave. Not comfortable beds, very small rooms, would benefit from pod beds to give privacy with the light/room being lit whenever door is open. Its fine for somewhere to crash but I would aim for a private room in future there rather than dorm.
Good location, great breakfast. Lockers outside room to help with noise.

That people could smoke right outside the front door
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hostel is in a great location, close to the main train station (which goes to the airport) and walking distance to the lake. Rooms and bathroom very clean and attended to . Excellent breakfast !

Roomate make noise for the whole night (it not the fault of hostel, just want to notice for the sensitive people). The wooden floor makes loud noise when people pass by.
Strong wifi, good breakfast and nice receptionist. I can access to the public transportation easily and free from the hostel.

Cons 1. Hostel is really big. So everytime thr r min 5-10 persons for check-in and thr was only 1 person at reception. That made things difficult coz even for iron, hair dryer, paying ofr meal need be at reception which was like 15-20 mins wait. 2. Secondfloor had only 1 washroom and shower facility.
Pros 1. Clean, comfortable 2. Breakfast buffet is nice 3. Study room is quite to work

Last day the room was full, with 4 people, and one of them used my sheets and my bed. So, I could not sleep before travel.
Located in perfect location, was very close to almost everywhere; where I will have lectures, ICRC centre, shopping mall, and to trainstation and was very easy to transfer from and to Airport.

The beds were crinkly and were loud with every movement. So with others coming and going it was hard to sleep soundly. Also it was hard to control light so definitely bring a sleep mask if you want to sleep.well.
The overall setup was great with fantastic common areas

The “manager” of the breakfast was nothing polite when he addresses to the guests. Extremely uncomfortable, sadly.

Would be good to have a kettle in the restaurant for visitors to use as we didn't have the right change
Every member of staff we met were fantastic, kind, helpful, charming and knowledgeable. Our rooms were simple but clean.

The location is perfect, because it's just near the river. Besides, it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the main train station and the city center.

The location is in the red light destrict. It is not safe to walk at night especially for females.

Terrible pillows. Annoying shower would turn off every 25 seconds, though can just press button again.
Super close to the lake. Liked the HUGE lockers outside the room that were free and could even fit my huge bag in it.

Very good hostel. Great breakfast. Great location. Nice and comfy common areas. Very little commodities in the room and uncomfortable lockers... but overall very good! I would totally recommend it.

The sleeping room was incredibly hot and stuffy. We tried to open the window to get some fresh air, but there was a loud conversation going on in the front courtyard below.
Breakfast was great, cleanliness was good, and it was in a pretty good location.

Needed 30CHF deposit for a key to use the fridge and limited luggage storage available after checkout.
Well-run and clean, with good facilities. Felt very secure with key card to access rooms, bathrooms, lockers. Included breakfast was generous and dining area very spacious and comfortable. Location close to the lake and walkable to a lot of Geneva's central area.

The duvet covers and pillows were not very comfortable.
Friendly staff, good breakfast for a hostel, fantastic location. Great that you got the Geneva transport card included and starting from your inward journey to the hostel.
