Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

To this day I still didn't get reimbursed from booking.com for the double payment they took from me on 2 12 2024. Email sent said they would have it in my account in 10 days.

I kept smelling smoke at night time, might be the restaurant below cooking and it got into the vents or through the door gaps.
It was nice and clean which was the same as what was advertised. There was plenty of restaurants near it too so food was good.

Might have been a bit unlucky - my neighbors upstairs were running around and I could here every step they did in the morning at 7am. No noise from the street though - but within the apartment you can hear others quite easily.
Really good value for money - checkin was easy and uncomplicated. Bed super comfy, all clean.

Only one pillow in room, didn't see any staff to ask for assistance with anything

Strong smell of food from the pizzeria downstairs. At the beginning it was even nice but during all nignt long it became too much. No visible sign to make it easier to find the establishment. Please, add some colours, maybe à colourfull picture on a wall. Looks sadly grey.

Floor was a bit ‘sticky’ and there were a few unidentified bits of fluff lying around. Bit basic, had to stretch an extension lead across the floor to plug the bedside lamp in. Very cheap wire clothes hangers
Location 50m from the tram stop perfect. Quiet Bed linen and towels all like new and clean

Wifi was slow. The traffic noise could be heard through the window seals.

Even though I was travelling alone, I would have liked to have 2 x pillows on the bed. The sign for Guesthouse Lochergut was helpful as I went to the wrong apartment door (main road) can you please add more instructions to the sign? That would be helpful.
Location wasn't too bad, first time in Zurich so just needed help from the Train station to the Tram, after that I was good. Room was very basic and the room was very clean.

Too late check-in and very early check-out were definitely a problem for me. I hadn't noticed the times in advance and it was a very bad surprise. Also the entrance is a little scary and smells like food because of the restaurant right below, but the room was away from the smell (4th floor).
Guesthouse Lochergut is a good place for travellers who want to explore the city and do not stay long in their hotel room. The location is good, within relatively walking distance of the old town for people who like to walk. There is a cafe right across the street, which is also a plus.

They don't seem to read messages. I always have to call at the phone. Quite annoying and unacceptable for a business model based on all remote assistance

There was no kettle and no curtains. It was very difficult to book in via the machine on the door. The key pad was not easy to use. There were no staff or receptionist at the hotel which felt a little disconcerting (if there was a problem) and also very impersonal.
The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the shower was excellent.

Even self check-in machine seems convenience but it's quite a slow precess. We had to wait when all the guests come in the same time.
