Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Access to reception was not great, up stairs twith our heavy luggage, we needed help from reception to get up the stairs and into the elevator.
Great location in the old town which we love. Second time staying here and we love the old classic style. Breakfast was also good.

A bit noisy

Staff is not friendly and the mattress is too soft it's like sleeping in a water bed. You have to leave the key at reception every time you leave and collect every time you come back. The shower is very tight, and the water runs boiling hot and freezing cold randomly .
Location is great, in the old town, close to shops, restaurants and transport

Breakfasts were exceptionally humble. Poor sound insulation in the rooms. No private car park and no discount for overnight public car parking.
Great location on one of the busiest streets of the old town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants around. Walking accessibility to all main attractions. A historical building with its own vibe.

It was all really nice
This is a very clean and comfortable hotel right in the middle of old town. The beds are comfortable and the shower is hot! The rooms are made up daily by friendly staff. It is great value for money based on location and comfort

A lovely old building in the old town of Zurich, with lots of character, including the old dog Hector! Nice welcome from reception , very clean comfortable room. Nice continental breakfast including meats and cheeses. Brilliant location in old town

Im struggling to find too much really other than minor points. Hotel is getting old and would benefit from some upgrade work but didnt detract from our experience at all. Another pillow in the room too would have been great but thats it!
The location was excellent, close to station and buses whilst being in the pedestrianised part of the city. The breakfast available didn't have the biggest choice but was absolutely sufficient and we enjoyed it. The hotel has everything you need for a short break whilst being a little dated in the room but all everything works and was comfortable. Suitcase storage was available too which was a big help.

Beds are too low and soft . The showers was so small.
Location of the hotel was excellent in the old town. The hotel room furnishings were very basic and the beds are very low and soft but very clean. The shower is very compact. The breakfast was ample with very little variation. Staff are very friendly.

Being picky - slightly more breakfast options. However I am gluten free and the staff provided me with GF bread.
The location was perfect - central yet tucked away. Staff very friendly, accommodating and professional. Beautiful aesthetic and atmosphere in the hotel.

The room is very small but we expected it to be. It was a little noisey at night given it was right in the heart of the night life, but that was fine. The central heating was a little too warm for us so we would open the window at night which did make it noisier but these are very minor things. We loved our stay at Hotel Hirschen.
The location was amazing. Close to everything and right in the heart of Zurich. Near the train station and right on the tram line too. Close to grocery stores and plenty of restaurants and cafes. The staff were lovely and helpful and the room was very clean.

The breakfast selection was incredibly limited. You need to boil eggs yourself. Also you can't take a key to your room with you when you go out.
Perfect location, 10 minutes from the main train station. My room was clean and quite good value for the money.

All was good.
All was good. A good bed (without plastic undercover, which horrifies me in many hotels); there was always a friendly person at the desk, day and night; breakfast served natural yoghurt and Bircher-Benner muesli; a nice lazy chair for reading in the room (which I miss in many hotels, even some more expensive ones); excellent location, but no noises at night. Wonderful!
