Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There iş no hair dryer at hotel. And bathroom is so small you can not get inside and close the Door.

The curtains to block off the shower from the rest of the room are very thin
Easily to get to the Basel SBB train station and we added public transportation passes into our stay for cheap!

Hotel was clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Bed comfortable, room nice and warm. Tram stops less that 5 minutes walk away.

The noise from the trains and tram close to the hotel is really, you need earplugs for sleeping. Also, the toilet seems to be built in like a closet.

It is very much a "budget" hotel with no additional frills. It's not designed to be fancy, it's just a place you can sleep for the night.
It was in a useful location. We had taken an evening flight to Basel airport and we needed somewhere to sleep for the night that had night time check in options.

when we booked the hotel, it says that breakfast was included. it may be booking.com error or hotel error. but we were not offerred free breakfast.

The location was just right for me to get to the Basel Conference Centre using public transportation. Breakfast included a wide choice of foods and was not too expensive.

Twin rooms are a little cramped but clean.

The wi-fi wasn't super consistent. The room was a bit cramped, and it was a little difficult to get around the room given the narrow spaces around the bed. The bunk-bed was a bit difficult to get in and out of. The receptionists were somewhat helpful, but told us to go to the tourism information office for more information when it now seems they should have known the answers to our questions.
Check-in and check-out were both pretty smooth. I was pleasantly surprised by the Basel Card that was included in our stay. The breakfast had a decent selection for the price. I also appreciated that they let us leave our bags in the hotel after checkout.

The room was extremelly small. In order to enter the bathroom you have to pull together your luggage and move it away, as otherwise it is blocking the door. Someone from the staff invaded the room to check whether it is occupied while I was inside :D

The room was quite small, no space for an open suitcase. There were only a couple of hangers and other than that no wardrobe. The shower doors were awkward. My window was from the side of the station which meant that I could hear the noise from the trains and from the traffic.
Good location, not far from the train station and some tram stops nearby. The window in the room had blinds. Beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of options both sweet and savoury, meat and vegetarian, and a choice of plant based milks. Staff were always there and refilled everything even as breakfast was almost over. There was a lounge on the ground floor with a microwave and some vending machines with snacks and coffee.
