The property itself was beautiful, a stone’s throw from the Rhine and next to a tributary. The architecture has been retained to give the building character.

Payed 20.- extra for a late check out (13:00) and they woke me up around normal check out time (10:00) - information didn't get through from one shift to the other it seems.

Having to pay for towels and being given a room located next to a noisy lift even though I had asked for a quiet room. Considering the quadruple room did not have its own shower, the cost of the room was expensive for a youth hostel even though the breakfast was included.

The"brutalisme" style (rooms are made out of bare concrete) is clearly a design concept, but still feels a bit weird. Desk and stool fit the concept but are not really comfortable. Suit, shirt and tie are NOT finding appropriate hangers

Location is great. Staff is friendly. Lobby and breakfast area are nice, you can get drinks for a reasonable price. single-/Double room is sufficiently sized, bathroom as well. Bed was good.

The food was minimalistic. There was no hot meal during breakfast. I think I would appreciate a warm omlett but also, I did not expect much considering the price.

Stayed here a few times now so know the location which is a 5 minute walk from a tram stop .good value for money with breakfast included. Good shower facility. Stayed in a 4 bed room.Am sure will be staying there again

Room took a little long to get ready (I arrived like 2 hours after check in time but they were only just preparing my bed and had to wait a few mins, but not a big deal, just slightly surprised as things in Switzerland are usually very punctual). For me location was good, being next to river in a calm spot, but for others it might be a little out of the way, you do get a free Basel transport card though if you don't wanna walk much. Only other thing was you have to make your own bed and throw the sheets into laundry basket after, but fine considering the price.

So when I first arrived I thought I'd come to the wrong place, this definitely has fancy hotel vibes rather than hostel ones. The free breakfast provided was great too, and really good value considering it's Switzerland (buffet options for mainly cold foods). Bathrooms were clean and plenty of showers available, sink in dorm room was a nice touch too. They have a games room downstairs too which I wasn't aware of until I had to leave. Use of lockers in dorm room (and also if you want to store stuff in luggage room before/after checkout) is free but just needs you to put a coin in that you'll get back (reception can exchange any notes you have for coins).

Room is not so wider as expected while staying in the shared room. However, it is good aspect that everyone has separate light that does not disturb other friends living there. I am happy with this aspect as well.

I am very satisfied with the services provided me in terms of delicious breakfast, clean room and corridor. I really appreciate and suggest people to stay here at Youth Hostel Basel if anybody asks me.

It is great in terms of design, but when it comes to cleanliness it is pretty standard. Not many things in the room, so pretty basic. For two people we got only three towels, and anything else is a subject to paying more at the reception (even a hair dryer)... Breakfast is pretty bad.

- Nice location - Friendly and helpful staff - Clean - Free public transport although I'm on a motorcycle - Free motorcycle parking - Originally booked a 6 person shared room but it turned out there were no more beds available so they bumped me up to a 4 person shared room which was a nice gesture.

Bed mattresses were too saggy. It was too hot and they didn’t even have a fan. It was too difficult to sleep in such hot weather. I am not saying that a hostel should have AC but at least a fan should be available.

Faculty was clean and staff was really cooperative.
