Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandInsect control- ants EVERYWHERE and no fly spray. The kitchen and bathroom felt very unclean. Leftover lip marks on cups and food bits in the sink. Bathroom was so dark and impossible to keep dry when you showered. The bed was so uncomfortable and we both sank into the middle. One of us ended up on the ‘spare bed’ which was a slab of wood with a thin foam mattress on top. The floor was impossible to keen clean so we constantly had to sweep the sand and dirt away just to be able to get into bed. Felt unclean in general.
The location. Clean linen. The staff were amazing! Helpful & kind. Always willing to go the extra mile. Air conditioning was amazing!

GermanyQuite expensive for the value, we were disappointed that it was not possible to swim at the beach in front and even kayaking was difficult. The mattresses have seen better days.
Great view from the balcony! Very friendly welcome and generous to offer local phone for making bookings as well as a washing machine and library.

New ZealandWhile the privacy and quiet of this place is incredible, I’ve stayed in cheaper places with better hospitality and cleanliness. It was clear that the priority was not on the guest experience but more on the profits or business operations. The communications to the guest online and on paper are different from the actual experience at the accommodation; eg, the booking confirmation stated airport transfers are complimentary with no extra costs, but the lady wanted to charge me for it and I had to bring up the message on my phone to show her that it stated transfers were at no extra cost. I wanted to pay for my stay with cash but she didn’t seem comfortable with it because she ‘didn’t want to carry cash’, only to agree reluctantly because I was firm about not using my card. The welcome file in the room said that cooking oil is provided, but I saw none in my kitchen. These might seem to be small issues, but the overall inconsistency in communication and oversight of the details in the guest experience lowers my trust in the management of the property. Even though they did a great job cleaning the room before I checked in, this place is crawling with ants - on the kitchen counters and floors, in the toilet too. Red, black, small, large - they have all the kinds of ants there. You can’t leave your food unattended anywhere in the kitchen, it will be overrun with ants within minutes. A cockroach appeared on my first night, it seemed to come into contact with some residual pesticide and ended up dying in the corner - after which a massive lizard came out to eat it but it was still alive so the lizard was flicking its head violently to kill the cockroach in its mouth. The struggle between both critters woke me up and kept me awake for at least another hour. I know bugs and critters are part of living on an island, but I expected better for the price of the rooms.
You see perfect sunsets from your room as this is facing the west coast of the island. Each room has its own balcony with sun lounges and direct beach access, and a sheltered laundry line. Laundry is complimentary and detergent is provided. The toilet was sparkling clean and kitchen had plenty of utensils. Beach towels were provided in the room too, and kayaks with paddles as well. This is one of the closest accommodations to the airport and an easy ride to Ootu beach on the eastern stretch of the island. You don’t get disturbed by roosters crowing in the morning, and the air conditioning is such a respite from the heat!

New ZealandAs a self catering unit, the one we stayed in could really do with being updated and modernised. We have stayed here before (6 years previously) and I don’t think anything has been upgraded. The unit was not particularly clean, with a layer of dust present when we arrived. The oven wasn’t working (they were waiting for parts which understandably can take some time), but we weren’t overly concerned as they have a communal BBQ, however this wasn’t working properly, and was very dirty. There was nothing available to clean it. The mattress on the bed could do with being renewed, it was very soft and had that ‘roll together’ issue when sleeping next to someone. Updating the balcony furniture with more comfortable chairs would be a nice addition, along with providing mosquito coils.
Location is exceptional. The units are set on a wonderful beach, and the lagoon is beautiful. Snorkelling is right on your doorstep and a decent spot to do this is a short stroll a couple of minutes up the beach. The air conditioning in the unit worked really well and made sleeping at night comfortable. The manager was attentive and helpful.

New ZealandDespite listing tv on available amenities, it didn’t work😩. The hot water supply was erratic at best, had to wait ages for it to come thru then it often randomly went cold. Not appreciated when in the middle of washing my long hair or in need of a warm shower! There was nowhere to hang the hand towel in the bathroom & nowhere to hang even one or two items of clothing. The pans for cooking in were cheap & nasty, in my opinion. There was not even any soap if any description-something that is usually always provided at guest accommodation-a very simple inexpensive thing, when we were staying 5 nights & paying over $1300 to do so.
Location was handy enough & lovely view of the sea, nice seating options on deck & beach. Roomy & air-conditioned. Use of laundry nice bonus. Transfer to/from airport very user-friendly & appreciated. Appropriate parking facilities wen needed

New ZealandUpon arrival at the airport, we were disappointed to hear that the scooters we had booked 2 months prior to our arrival through the accommodation were not available even though we had received confirmation for this. We then had to spend a few hours trying to organize other transport, but everything was already booked out so we had to settle for two bikes. The room was alright, maybe a bit dark, but the bed is extremely old and dirty. It was FULL of dust when I had a look at the mattress. The sheets were clean but the bed is basically falling to pieces which lead to a very uncomfortable 2 nights for my partner. A second single 'bed' is provided, which I slept on, but is just a piece of foam with a sheet over it. This was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom works alright (including reliable hot water) but water has got under the tiles and is causing them to lift up. If the floor got wet, they would make a squelching noise and dirty water would leak out onto anything that was on the floor. We were also charged for airport transfers which were supposed to be free at $25 each way. The accommodation is literally less than 5 min drive from the airport. I did get a refund for this charge.
The pick up and drop off service to the airport was great, but not free which was stated in the listing. We were greeted on time with a customary Ei which was beautiful.

New ZealandThe beds are spongy and could use an upgrade, the mosquitoe netting was great around the windows and doors but out on the verandah they were prolific and they managed to get inside through the holes in the netting, the netting could use some attention.
