Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWhat an amazing time we had here in Rarotonga! The entire staff were so helpful and accommodating; a joy to interact with. The comfortable bungalows were stocked with all the kitchen supplies and essentials we needed (plus more!). The bathroom in our room was brand new, and felt like such a luxury. And all the seating options on the beach (hammocks, lounge chairs, bean bags, tables and chairs on the pavilion) were comfortable and added to our enjoyment while we were there. Highly recommend!

AustraliaGreta location easy to get to things, right on the beach all the bungalows facing water direction is lovely with the pool in the middle. We didn’t think we would use the pool but we did a couple of times. The owners Lawrence and Simonne were super friendly and helpful, their other staff were genuinely warm. Beds and rooms were great, awesome to have kitchens to make food so don’t have to eat out all of the time, and they are well equipped. Very helpful having electric cars onsite to hire.

SwitzerlandHonestly can‘t think of anything….
Magic Reef is an amazing place, the bungalow is very clean and well equipped. The whole resort is very beautiful and proper, and has breathtaking sunsets. Lawrence and Simonne are amazing hosts and take very good care to the resort. We felt welcome from the first second and throughout the whole time there. If the Cook Islands were closer to Switzerland, I would not hesitate to go again!

AustraliaNothing. Didn't want to leave
Magic Reef bungalows right on the beach was an ideal holiday, just what I was looking for. Private, comfortable, environmentally conscious, clean and super relaxing. Bungalows equipped with everything you need. Fabulous hosts and helpful, along with office manager, Jayne. Communication was always prompt and helpful. Perfect place to sit on your outdoor deck, or the outdoor leisure area overlooking the beach and sea and watch the beautiful sunsets. Would definitely recommend.

New ZealandIt’s difficult to fault as everything was so perfect. Only things we struggled with were things that were out of magic reefs control. The ants in the room are a nuisance, only tiny ones, but manage to sniff out the tiniest evidence of food and suddenly there were swarms of them. We appreciated the bug spray in the room (another thoughtful detail). And the dogs on the island - as we are not dog people, the dog appearing onsite regularly, and on our deck, was a bit of a pain. It was collared and friendly enough, just a pain. Really clutching at straws here - the resort is truly perfect.
Excellent facilities, very carefully thought out. Bungalows are equipped with everything we needed and more. The west facing orientation is perfect, catching the morning sun on the water to really accentuate the colours of the ocean, and the watching the sunsets from one of the hammock is just bliss.

AustraliaWe had some tiny ants and insects - but they really weren’t a big deal - just shut the door and clean up after you’ve prepared or eaten food.
The wonderfully unique beach bungalows were comfortable, clean, beautiful and a wonderful experience. The pool, outdoor leisure areas, the beautiful gardens just added to the experience at Magic Reef Bungalows. We saw whales from our front verandah and enjoyed the outdoor shower and thoughtful fruit platter and baked bread and homemade jam.

AustraliaThe only real draw back to the resort is that you can't swim in front of the resort, but there are plenty of places nearby you can get to where the snorkelling is excellent. The pool is on the smaller side, but perfect for a refreshing dip.
The resort is run by a fantastic crew who go out of their way to make you feel at home, and can't do enough for you. The bungalow has been beautifully built and is incredibly roomy, with a great deck to watch the sunsets and passing whales. There is no restaurant onsite, but there are others within a short walk. The hire cars were great, as was the use of the snorkelling equipment.

New ZealandCan’t think of anything that I didn’t like.
Great spot which is close to a good on the beach restaurant, and the views of the ocean and whales at Magic Reef can’t be beat. There are also Leaf electric vehicles to rent which were tidy and well taken care of.

United KingdomThat we couldn’t stay longer!
Magic reef is the perfect accomodation we will defs be back! The bungalows are stunning and give an exotic feel. The beach and overall location is THE best in raro. We saw whales each day, walked directly to some of the best dinner spots on the island directly along the beach and the staff and guests are super amenable and friendly as it’s small you’ll get to know everyone and feel really communal and welcomed. The wifi is perfect and additions of a well Stocked fridge with complimentary fresh fruit muesli milk water juice and toast was much appreciated!

AustraliaUnfortunately we didn’t think about how noisy the absolute beachfront would be, during our 4 nights we didn’t get a night that wasn’t insanely windy. Sometimes it felt like there was a cyclone right outside which made it difficult to sleep. I would recommend any other bungalow other than the beachfront as they were less windy and noisy being set back a bit and you could’ve sat on the deck whereas we copped all of wind and couldn’t use the deck at all. (Not the property’s fault just the never ending wind of Raro) Also didn’t get any sun on the beachfront bungalows because of the palm trees right there providing lots of shade which made it feel chilly with the wind.
Beautiful beachfront bungalow. Very comfortable and clean. Great drinking water onsite, good parking, spacious, big comfy bed and lovely bathroom.

AustraliaNot one negative to report in my opinion.
MAGIC BY NAME, MAGICAL BY NATURE It was a wrench to leave this piece of paradise. Lawrence and Simone have a knack of finding a balance with making you feel so very welcome and part of their family (Airport greetings, Ei, offering a drink) yet giving you total privacy. The CEO, Miss T is simply delightful. Shout out to Jayne - logistics guru with such warmth and Jason - great connection with people - an asset to the crew. Housekeeping and garden staff all full of smiles so credit to Lawrence and Simone for creating a very peaceful, contented vibe here amongst staff and guests. Loved the outdoor shower and bath. Pure bliss! Very hopeful of returning soon.

AustraliaNothing to dislike about the property
Beautiful location on the beach and near restaurants. We were there with a wedding group. Excellent staff and easy access to e-bikes or electric car. The setting, pool and gardens were lovely. Magic Reef only has twelve units so very quiet and secluded. Communication and response from the Magic Reef team was exceptional.

AustraliaThe outdoor shower was a little chilli on the days it is very windy but by no means a negative.
Beautiful secluded spot on the beach. Only about 8–10 bungalows, so no more than 20 people there at a time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Captain the resort cat is a welcome addition to the staff :)
