Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe villa was a perfect home away from home. Everything had been thought of down to cheese knives in the kitchen and an extension cord for gadgets. Kayaks, snorkelling gear, reef shoes … all provided at no extra cost. The villa was welcoming and incredibly clean; the hosts were accessible and accommodating.

New ZealandBeautiful, peaceful location, a very short stroll to a white sandy beach with amazing snorkelling. Hosts Jade and Ben were lovely and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Self contained villas have everything you need for a perfect holiday with a lush and well maintained tropical garden setting. A short walk along the beach to some amazing eateries for lunch/dinner/cocktails. We miss our short stay in Rarotonga already and can't wait to return.

Australianothing - Makayla Palms is perfect.
For the traveller that is looking for the relaxed lifestyle away from the resorts. this is for you. 30m walk down a private palm tree lined path puts you on one of the nicest beaches in Rarotonga! Snorkel or kayak straight of the beach in crystal clear water.

New ZealandGreat location, beautiful spot, wonderful and clean villas. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, it's a tiny distance to the best beach and there are gentle breezes. Absolutely fantastic set up for families - with outdoor showers, kayaks, snorkeling gear and loads of washing lines for hanging up wet gear. Our family of four with the grandparents in the villa next door had the best family holiday ever. There are vigorous roosters and dogs everywhere on Rarotonga, so take your ear plugs (some are provided in the villas).

New ZealandThe ringing of the bell on Sunday morning (unavoidable, as Rarotonga loves Jesus). So next time I'll make sure to wear ear plugs on Saturday night.
My Fiance and I stayed at Makayla Palms, it was our first time to Rarotonga, and to the Pacific Islands. We wanted to be close to Muri, but also close to the fruits of raro too. This accommodation was honestly amazing, the value for comfort, size and everything! Even small spreads and freezer packs were there for us when we got there. The staff were extremely professional. It was an amazing time, thank you to the staff and Makayla Palms. We'll definitely be back here! <3

New ZealandNothing really. We liked the peace and quiet.
Just a minute to a beautiful beach. Enjoyed walks along the beach at night. Went to Charlies for happy hour and meals...25 minute walk along the beach then walked back along the road as tide was full. A magical place. Lovely hosts and having the beach at our doorstep was unbeatable. A bit further from the main town but a good supermarket close by.

New ZealandWoken by roosters every morning (although this happens all over the Island). We did not get a full service half way through our stay. just the bedding and towels changed. Bathroom in the 2 bedroom unit could have done with a fan or better ventilation system. Pillows were all quite firm. It would have been good to have some softer pillows available. Safes were complicated to work.
Location was excellent, short walk to beautiful beach. Spacious rooms with fans in bedrooms and living rooms. Lovely outdoor area and good barbecue. Tastefully decorated with Island vibe! Great to have beach gear such as snorkels, beach shoes. flippers and kayaks available to use. good supply of kitchen utensils. Umbrellas also supplied for those rainy days. Use of laundry and lots of space to hang washing.

New ZealandThe bed. I am a light sleeper and the double bed was the kind that if one person moves the whole bed moves.
The location. The privacy. The very friendly staff. The size of the room. The patio. The sun lounges. The complimentary snorkeling gear. The ability to use the laundry. The outdoor shower. Having a shop short walk away. Easy parking. All the little extras - you don’t need to bring anything.
