Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bathroom facilities need a bit of an upgrade. The toilet seat was broken and the toilet smelt which isn’t good in a dorm room.
The location was great and the pasta night was a great added bonus.

The whole place needs a renovation. Very noisy wooden stairs. Poor breakfast.
Big private room and bed. 5 min walk to the metro. Nice, quiet and safe neighborhood.

The quietness is just interrupted by the really loud stairs, so earplugs help in case one wants to sleep in. Generally speaking, the building is old and therefore it cannot look impeccable, but it's worth the money.
The building is very pretty and surprisingly quiet given the central location. The employee that was responsible for the breakfast was super quick and helpful and filled up everything on the go. I liked that there was fresh fruit.

Some bedroom might be a bit larger. Bed aren’t the most cozy but are ok.
Nice staff, good breakfast, warm atmosphere. Excellent position. Hostel is accurately cleaned everyday.

Mattress not very comfortable.
Super nice atmosphere in the hostel. I met many friends. It's calm and also comfortable to work. Good WiFi.

All the guests are friendly with eachother and it is easy to make friends and have good conversations. The staff is exceptionally helpful and understanding. it is safe and a great central location. I highly recommend Aji Hostel, you will not be dissapointed:)

The water pressure in the shower was not good. The bed was not comfortable. Maybe I had a bad luck taking the less comfortable private room.
The hostel is located in a very nice and quiet place next to the Italian Consulate. The breakfast is good taking in consideration the room price. There are several activities at the evening during the week. For example, there was a free dinner with pasta with pesto and a glass of wine on Wednesday. I had a great time!

they don’t have many outlets near the beds and the outlets the room has is always poorly located. you have to charge your devices at the living room.

The room is a bit rustic, even the individual room with private bathroom. The shower is not as effective as it should. Nevertheless, the overall experience is quite good.
As usual, a quite welcoming place, friendly staff, always helpful. Great place to meet other travelers and share experiences.

The one thing I didn't like was that it was pretty cold inside. There is no heating system, and the occasional portable gas heater didn't do the job.
Good location, friendly staff, good facilities, and good breakfast. Thank you very much for the hospitality.

Private bathroom was tiny, but this is a minor issue.
Conveniently located close to Bario Bellavista with many places to eat, easy to reach by metro. Good breakfast.

I booked a private room, and it faced the front. But there is a patio below, and other guests were there.. But the noise was loud because of that nightly.. Until after 1:00-2:00 am, so I didn't sleep too well, especially on a day where I had to wake up very early because of a tour. I wish there was a rule enforced.. like use until 11 or something.
The loation was great. Only a few minutes walk to the subway, which I used often on this trip.. About 4 stops to Costanera Center, and about 2-3 stops to Santa Lucia Hill. There was breakfast available, I took 2 tours that I booked through the hostal, and they were nice. Staff were friendly. Also they had some themed nights.. LIke Pisco night and Pasta/Wine night. and a dinner was set up and met other guests. It It's a nice hostal, if you want to meet other people.
