Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Best bang for your buck in San Pedro. Clean and has hot water. The staff who run the hostal are incredibly friendly and responsive.

Lovely stay in a good quiet location with an exceptional warm welcome from the hostel manager. While we didn’t use the kitchen it was well equipped, and the fan in the room was plenty strong enough even though we were there during summer. Really recommend.

The room is a little bit noisy during the night.
The room is a good size, the bathroom, although shared was always clean. The host is very nice and he was always available to answer any questions.

Hostel is comfortable and well equipped. Less than 10 minute walk into the centre of San Pedro. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

The place is really neat and clean. Good kitchen facilities, first time in a month in Chile we found good cooking pans. Good value for money and recommended stay.

Nothing - was told you couldn’t boil the tap water for tea… not sure why. Need to pay in cash so make sure you bring enough. There are atms in the town.
Good shower, was warm (until there was a power outage in the town). Staff were very helpful on WhatsApp and when at the property. Good location for tour collection/drop off as it was near the main road but was also only 6 mins from bus station. Good kitchen with plenty of utensils etc.

The bed was not very comfortable and the shower was tiny but OK for us.
We liked the kitchen. It was very roomy and had everything you need to prepare a meal. It was also Very clean and well cared for. The bedroom, though small, was very well organized. It provided hangers for the coats, shelf space, table and enough room to put things in the toilet.

nothing we didn’t like but just the WIFI wasn’t very strong
Room was really cosy, mini heater made a big difference at night time. Quiet area just 5 minutes walk from the centre. Kitchen was nice and clean and well equipped. Hot shower was lovely having just come from the Salt Flats tour in Bolivia.

I believe that the door was not that sound-proof, but I didn't bother as I was too tired to notice anything outside the room. Don't expect too much, it's not a fashionable hotel, and San Pedro has it's own style, so that hostel is completely authentic, and that's not the flaw.
The hostel is small and cosy, the administrator helped us to solve several problems pretty fast, so we owe him a big thank you. The room was small but clean and tidy, mountain view right after you leave the hostel, 5 minutes away from central streets
