The roof is very low over your head if you are in the top bunk. So you have to crawl into the space and back out. There is no regular cleaning schedule, the room and bathrooms were cleaned once in my five day stay and you would need to ask for toilet paper every time, which would usually be restocked by staff if the bathroom was cleaned everyday.

Beautiful terraces, lovely common area, very social and helpful owners. The showers are strong and hot water is available, the bathrooms are comfortable with lots of space and hooks to hang your stuff, the kitchen is quite well equipped for cooking full meals. The beds are comfortable with lots of covers available if cold. Big lockers. And amazing location, very close to main square, unimarc and bus terminal.

The shower was only hot early in the morning and late at night. Most of the time it was cold. Wi-Fi had a bad connection in the room. And the room was not cleaned in the four nights we stayed.

Very good location. Close to the center of town, but still quiet. We had the private room with bathroom, and it was a comfortable big room with a nice terrace outside with a small table and chairs. A nice garden, and a terrace to watch the night sky from. Host was really nice and helpful, though we didn’t get full benefit of that because of our lack of Spanish skills. They did our laundry for a good price.

Paradise in the middle of the desert. Perfect location in beautiful Vicuña with gorgeous and relaxing outside space, enough space to have privacy, but make friends if you want to. Great room with little terrace. Staff extremely friendly. Excellent value for money.

Beautiful big common area in the patio with comfortable chairs, lounge and deck chairs. Fully-equipped kitchen and roof top terrace available. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable with private bathrooms. The location is perfect to stroll around the city and take tours to the surroundings.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lila's place in Vicuña. Lila, the owner, is incredibly kind. She was always there to ask us how our day went and gave us excellent tips on places to visit and where to eat. The outdoor spaces are beautifully designed, with colorful houses, a lovely garden, a welcoming terrace, and a well-equipped communal kitchen. Everything is spotlessly clean, and we truly felt at home. We also rented bikes directly from Lila, which made our stay even more enjoyable. If we ever return to Vicuña, we will definitely stay with her again.

Leela and Rodrigo were so helpful and friendly. They gave us so much info about where to go and what to do. Did our washing at very reasonable rate and even had bicycles to hire. Lovely garden and facilities!

There was a long-term guest who occupied a lot of space, on several levels. Was a bit too much at times but nothing that would make the place itself less beautiful. Also he should be gone at some point.

Nice room and lovely location with a spacious garden and two rooftops to watch the stars. The hosts are also really friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed staying there, it felt like a peaceful oasis.

Unfortunately, we only stayed at Hostal Michel for one night, but it was a great day. We were able to hire bikes right at the start and took the bus directly to Pisco Elqui. The ride into the valley is breathtakingly beautiful. Later we met Sebastian, who invited us for a beer tasting. You have to do this, we had a great time and laughed a lot. The bed was very comfortable and the whole room was very clean. The staff is very nice and helpful and the garden inside is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well equipped and clean. I can really recommend this hostel!

The bathroom in the ensuite dorm wasn't cleaned daily like the communal areas...a minor inconvenience in an otherwise great stay.

Great hostal a stone's throw away from the main plaza yet quiet in the evenings. Bunk bed was comfy, room was clean. Really hospitable host who went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. Kitchen is always clean, common areas are nice with enough space to socialise or relax on your own. I extended my stay by a couple of nights and would stay again. Definitely one of the better hostels out there. Highly recommended!

We understand no parties in the rooms - and OK with no food, but a bit disappointed we had to also sit outside for a nightcap. There is a table and chairs outside, so it's no real hardship - just a bit cold. But that is a very minor thing and did not spoil our overall stay very much

Wow! What a lovely hostel. The garden is simply stunning. Beautiful plants, interesting cactus. Figs, pomegranates, grapes growing right there. The owner is incredibly sweet and kind. She gave me fresh figs on check in. There is also a star-gazing platform with beds to lie on. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Right in the centre of town, two blocks from the central square.
