Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

You can leave your bags at the reception on the last day of your visit until 5pm only, otherwise if you need to leave them longer, the hostel will charge you… which I think is really a pity. Same for the towels, you have to pay extra.
The place is nice and very well located, 5min away from the city center.

Our (double) room smelled of damp, probably because it didn't have window to the outside, but to an internal yard. Breakfast is served from 8:30am, so a bit late if you plan to visit somewhere out of town.
The location of the hostel is very good, the place is clean, has a large kitchen and a view from the roof terrace is incredible.

Might be a bit spartan for some. You get what you pay for.
The double room was good. Don't really know about the hostel area. Staff was helpful. Quiet but still close to sights and restaurants.

The breakfast didn't exist. Laundry was expensive, and a couple things came out shrunk & one thing was slightly burnt.
The staff was very accommodating. We had a special request and they fulfilled it. The room was clean and comfortable, and the shower was good. Also, the rooftop terrace is quite a vibe.

The stairs to the upper floor may be too steep for some.
Stayed in the beautiful upper room with bathroom attached. Direct access to terrace, all very comfortable. Owner and staff very helpful. Good location on Cerro Alegre.

The bathrooms were filthy, the bedroom was also dirty and smelly with very old and stained bed linen

Quite far uphill. A tiresome walk. Water pressure was low, and sometimes virtually zero.

Considerably more expensive to pay in pesos, cold in the rooms, very long "introduction" when we checked in, no soap/towels, not such a safe area at night
Extremely good location, nice rooftop view, quiet hostel, nice that we got woollen blankets for the bed as it was quite cold during the night, very good WiFi

Alex our host was fantastic! He gave lots of information about what to do in the city, kept the hostel spotless and was always friendly to chat to. The hostel has TWO rooftops to hang out on with beautiful views of the city and a well-equipped kitchen. There is also an inside chill and eating area as well as many bathrooms with hot water. The location is fantastic, close to many restaurants and shops, safe, clean and colourful street art. We stayed here twice we enjoyed it so much! It's also very cheap, great value for money.

Loved the roof top and common areas, always clean. Didn’t use the kitchen much but had everything you needed including some oils and spices. Bed was super comfortable and shower was nice and hot!! Staff was so welcoming and helpful :)

Unfortunately the rooms were not the best. They had a bad smell and we asked to change room because the one we first slept it had mold in the ceiling. They should do something to improve the rooms’ conditions. And also the toilets cause in one of them there was mold too.
The hostel is in a very good location and the staff is super nice and they helped us with a lot of info about where to go and where not to go!

The bed literally had various levels and the wood underneath was partly broken. There was clearly mole everywhere in the room. No towels available. Often times the staff listened to loud music.
Nice outdoor facilities and a good view of the whole bay.
