Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilWe had a problem at Hotel Oceanic and decide to move to Sheraton and when we arrived there, we had all the support we needed. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful. We are just in love with this hotel. The restaurant is very good, breakfast has a great variety of food and everything is carefully displayed.

United KingdomNegatives: Not really the hotel's fault but the outdoor pool was unusable during my stay, as was the beach (for swimming). Unless the tide is very low, the large pacific waves make it too dangerous in the pool. This was also true (when combined with the steeply sloping sand) on the beach too, which flew the red flag continuously. The tide never went out far enough at any time of day for a green flag when I was there. Lifeguards would not let anyone in for more than a paddle lest they be sucked down the steeply inclined sand at the top of the beach (as the waves recede down the slope). As for food, there was not much of a choice of healthy vegetables. The creamed spinach was very nice, but there was more cream than spinach (artery/weight gain hazard!!). Also, beware the room service! I asked for a glass of cold milk one night (just before bed), thinking I might get charged about $5. The next day, the breakfast waiter asked me to sign for a bill of around $20. When I asked why, I was told I'd had an americano coffee in my room. I said this must be a mistake, but he showed me the itemised bill on the restaurant computer. I said I'd only had milk, and he decided to cancel the charge. Presumably it was either a mistake or the computer had no option for specifying a charge for milk. If it had, maybe it would've cost even more.
Positives: A very plush hotel right next to a beach. My room had a great view of the sea and beach. There was a desk for laptop work etc and the bed was comfy. The restaurant food was of high quality, and reasonably priced. There is a nice indoor pool.

United StatesWhen choosing a 5-star hotel, it’s not just about the facilities but also the overall experience. For the past four years, I’ve visited the Miramar Sheraton with my parents, and unfortunately, I’ve witnessed a steady decline in its infrastructure. While the service and staff attention remain exceptional, the hotel’s technology and amenities are far from what is expected of a 5-star establishment. The beds and carpets are outdated and damaged, the technology is severely lacking, and many features require urgent upgrades. For instance, the Wi-Fi in the two rooms my family and I stayed in was not functional. Four technicians had to attend to the issues, and while one room eventually had temporary access, the other could not be resolved. The TVs are outdated, not smart, and cannot connect to modern devices like iPads, making it impossible to stream movies or use them effectively. To make matters worse, the hotel appears to have adopted a low-cost model that compromises the guest experience. Previously, the rooms included four complimentary coffee capsules; now, they provide only two and charge for additional ones. Even requesting a small amount of milk for coffee came with a fee. The carpets in the rooms are frayed, the phones are outdated and dirty, and the overall deterioration of such a beautiful location is disheartening. This decline from December 2022 to 2024 is evident, and it’s a pity to see such a potential-filled property lose its charm and value. However, I must commend the excellent support provided by Macarena Leiton and her team, who went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. Her professionalism and dedication are a credit to the hotel and deserve special recognition. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and invests in the necessary upgrades to restore the hotel’s former glory. Guests come for a premium experience, and it’s disappointing to see such standards compromised. Connie

ChileCompared to other 5-star hotels, it was very low. I was very disappointed seeing the amount I paid to stay that I was asked to pay tips all the time. I was interrupted twice by a plumber to fix our sink which was an inconvenience. The air conditioning was very noisy and had a high level of humidity which caused me asthma problems. I had issues everytime I wanted to pay cash. My partner only speaks english and when she ordered room service the payment for the food was mistaken for a tip which took three hours to resolve and we were double served our order which I heard her request clearing for one serving not two.
The view was amazing, all staff where very polite and friendly.

Chilefor being a 5 star hotel it wasn’t very good. the toilet paper in the toilets was very bad quality. Shampoo and conditioner was bad quality as well. the room was not vacuumed after made. The service in the terrace was good but the quality of drinks was terrible. we asked for a juice which was very expensive and it was like a bad quality juice from the supermarket which was filled in simple 200 cc glass with very bad presentation.

CanadaOur sheets had stains both the bed cover and the overlay. The heater was clanking all night. We wanted to hear the ocean, instead we heard clanking all night. We had to go and get our keys re-scanned 2x in 3 days as they would stop working. The main walkway to the beach was being repaired, which isn't the hotels fault. But made it harder to walk around. Most people j-walked across the front street to get to the other side. A fun risky activity every morning and evening! Overall, for the price paid, it was not a 5-Star experience.
The View was absolutely 💯. The food was very pricey but good. There is beach access adjacent, it isn't private though, so if you think you're getting a private beach with the hotel, you are not. The pool, gym and spa were great too.

United KingdomThe location
Check in took ages and we had to ask for additional staff. The gym was excellent, although the outside pool was closed due to the weather. The location is not great though unless you want to stay in the hotel. It is a long walk to any shops or bars and the hotel bar is not cheap. The pavement from the hotel into Vina Del Mar is currently closed and walking the one narrow side that is open is impossible with people walking the other way. we wouldn’t go back but if you want to stay in the hotel then it may be a good choice!

SpainThe payments system used is not fit for purpose. They would not accept my credit card to pay in dollars as the system does not recognise my card as a credit card. Eventually I was able to play in Pesos (we were in Chile after all), but still insisted on a deposit in dollars, which the system would not process. Eventually I had to leave a cash deposit with the desk which to their credit refunded without quibble when we left. Unfortunately I was then left with a pile of pesos at the airport - not good.
The room and balcony were fine. Standard Marriot Fare.
