Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

During our trip in China we always experienced great hospitality, but the staff in Riverside Inn was particularly kind and ready with every request (we asked for takeaway breakfast on our last day 5 minutes before leaving and they arranged it in zero time, awesome). Also we were supposed to get a room without a view on the river, but since there was such a room available they upgraded ours to a room with view without any additional fee.

Small gripe, but the people living next door were v noisy during one night, but when requested did quieten down

It is a nice little hotel, right by the river. It's within walking distance to Guilin's main attractions. And many dining options around. The staffs have been very helpful. We booked a tour through them, and it was nicely arranged. The room is clean and nice, and all are well provided for.

Only limited view of the river. A little expensive.
Pleasant and helpful staff. Great location, close to public transport. Staff booked us transport to Long Yi Rice Terraces :). Spacious, comfortable room.

When I misplaced map bruchure was advised could have another by one of the staff members. Later on another staff member apologised and provided a second bruchure with the city map which was helpful. A little bit away from public transport and parks. No lift to fourth floor room.
Great room - close to town with a lovely view. Generally helpful staff. Good value for money.

All perfect
Cozy hotel with helpfully staff. The room was big and clean and the cabin shower is just wow. The hotel is located within walking distance from many shops but not so close to the city center (15/20 minutes walk from the night walking street).

We got free upgrade to a room overlooking the river which was fantastic. All staff were very friendly and helpful and there were quite a few restaurants nearby that provide yummy local cuisine at reasonable prices.

The lower floor rooms are less impressive though one had it's own garden patio, most rooms do not have river view, and the adjacent buildings are pretty rough. Even the exterior of Riverside Inn might make you question the quality when you arrive.
Very good boutique hotel, 'King room' on 3rd floor almost perfect. Excellent location on the river, lots to walk to. Breakfast was extra, but surprisingly, very professionally prepared. Staff, especially manager David, very helpful. This hotel was the best value on our China trip.

Some music was playing everyday a bit late
The location is quite centric and by the river which makes it more special. The staff was very helpful in organising our trips and very kind with all the requests.

Only one of the staff spoke English, and so when he wasn't on duty it was a little difficult to communicate. We were travelling with a Chinese speaker, so it wasn't an issue for us, but something to keep in mind.
Excellent place to stay at the medium price point. Clean, comfortable rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and beautiful. Our room even had a really nice balcony.

No negative comments whatsoever.
Staying here was an absolute pleasure. Our host David was really a gem, responsive on wechat all the time, weeks before our arrival he helped us arrange a van with a driver to visit the rice terraces, Li river cruise, pick up in Yangshuo, a performance there, transfer to the airport, with equally friendly driver and an upscale van- all for a super affordable price and no upfront payment. All of the latter would have been incredibly difficult or expensive to arrange on our own. The 2 rooms our family stayed in were huge, clean, mosquito nets on the windows, with a bathtub on the balcony, breakfast options are wide enough for just about anyone and you can easily walk to the Elephant trunk hill and other major sights in the centre. A taxi back will cost you just 1.50 EUR or so. Can't recommend it enough.
