Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe didn't know until our departure day that taxis can't drive into the village at weekends, so we had to get a bus to the airport.
Breakfasts were traditional style, varied and delicious. The location was in a quiet village neighbourhood, close to West Lake and the Lingyin Temple complex.

GermanyNothing specific, we got a small room which was a bit tight for the number of luggage we had (2 big ones and 2 small ones), but everything was very doable.
We stayed in this lovely property for 2 nights. It was the perfect getaway after 2 weeks in big cities landscapes. Although Hangzhou is not small at all, the hotel is located in a peaceful natural area, very quiet but still close to important highlights such as the Feilai Peak. The best highlight of the property was the staff, which was a 10/10. The guy working at the reception was lovely and so kind to us, helping us many times with restaurant recommendation, ordering food to our room one night when it was raining and helping us carry our luggage to the bus stop (around 10 min by foot). The property also prepares every morning a free breakfast which is super local, quite different from what we’re used to, but we loved it. It was delicious and the overall feeling of being there was very home-y.

United StatesBeds remind me of similar beds I slept on in Japan - VERY hard (basically a raised wooden platform with minimal padding).
Very hospitable family running this quaint hotel. The neighborhood was picturesque, set in a wooded neighborhood retreat away from the city. Easy walk to Lingyin Temple. Staff speaks decent English, with a strong desire to understand and be understood - always smiling and so so friendly!

MongoliaGetting a taxi out of this area can be a challenge due to traffic control. Either wait and flag one down by the main road or walk 10-15mins to the nearest DiDi pick up spot which isn’t great in 40 degree heat. Places in the city next to the lake may be more convenient for transport.
Nice rooms and staff. A more residential area to stay next to the lake.

SingaporeNo WiFi so had to use roaming.
Located in such a beautiful setting, rooms were spacious and clean for the price point. Lots of thoughtful details like home cooked breakfast being included and beautiful travel books about Hangzhou in multiple languages to suit a variety of travelers. Service was wonderful and very personal. The owners stayed up until 2 AM the day I checked in to respond to my WeChats after I had a long flight delay and ran into tons of holiday traffic. Although they have a good command of English, I was also really happy that they were willing to let me practice my Chinese and were very kind and understanding about my mistakes. Last, they have a lot of cute cats!

United KingdomNothing, it is well worth the money.
The place is located in a nice location, it is close to the temples to visit (few minutes walk). The room was nicely decorated and felt very cozy. More general the place is decorated with various types of arts pieces, which attracts the curiosity. A few minutes walk from the bus station to take a bus back to West Lake or downtown Hangzhou.

United KingdomOther travellers said it was difficult to find, but we just looked at the area’s overview map and found it straight away. You have to go up some steps at the back.
There are three lovely cats 😻 There is an amazing view, a brilliant vegan restaurant five doors downhill, lots of room to sit/read. The countryside setting in tea fields is beautiful. There is the Lingyin Temple tourist area next door with lots of facilities and good transport links. Our favourite place to stay on our journey is - we’ll be back!

ItalyWe initially thought about staying only two nights in this accommodation, but after arriving at this beautiful place we decided to extend our stay. The accommodation is a great hide away from the busy Hangzhou and walking distance from the Lingyin Scenic Area. You will find a few restaurants in the neighborhood, but we highly recommend the vegetarian restaurant "Qing Chun Perma" - delicious food, high quality ingredients and still very affordable. The host is extremely friendly, helpful and can communicate in English. A cherry on the cake was the outstanding dinner that the host offered to us. For all the Italians out there, be aware that the breakfast is very traditional and therefore not sweet;)

AustraliaOne of our room lighting was a little dim, but minor for me.
Rooms was clean and comfortable, with a zen and local vibe. Walking distance to the famous ling ying temple and tourism areas which was a plus. There were some restaurants and convenience store nearby as well. The town was really beautiful early in the morning and at night when lights were lit. The breakfast was exceptional, healthy, tasty and filling which gives us more energy to tour around HangZhou. Owner of the place was very helpful too which gave us local tips and also assistance in buying high speed rail tickets when we were leaving from HangZhou to SuZhou. They also prepared breakfast for us earlier in the morning, outside of breakfast hours so we could catch our train in the morning.

ItalyWas a bit difficult to find it initially, you might need to ask the locals.
The host were adorable ( and I am not just talking about the two cats). The breakfast was simple but fulfilling and you can ask more for those with hungry belly. The room was clean and comfortable. It represents the amazing old Chinese traditional house. I loved the colors, warm tone and very relaxing. The hotel had some hidden zen spots ( an outside garden and an internal court with many plants), great for pic or morning relaxation

IrelandThe room smells a little bit humid, but I know it's the local weather that makes the indoors smell like this. Opening all windows after getting in will be helpful.
The staff are super friendly and always there to help. It's located in a quiet village near Lingyin Temple, within walking distance to get there. We enjoyed breakfast with local and fresh food.

SingaporeLocation, climbing stairs to reach the place
Location wise is not very good as it’s located further in where there’s not many food or shops around. It would b better to take didi (cab) when going out / going back. However, besides that, staffs are super friendly! Breakfast was delicious too! (the most typical traditional Chinese breakfast ive had in China). Staffs even help us carry our luggage down & waited for the didi to arrive ! The stay were cozy & theres cats around too!

SingaporeJust to note (not the guesthouse's problem though) that to get to the guesthouse, you will need to climb a flight of stairs. The guesthouse is also easily missed as it is not along the row of other houses on the road.
The location of the guesthouse is in a quiet area (staying amongst locals as well as some other guesthouses). There are some small marts and eateries nearby too. I only had breakfast once but it was filling and good - it included porridge with small side dishes of vegetables, tofu, boiled egg, steamed bun etc. The staff was also friendly and helpful. There were also 2 very lovely cats :) My room was really nice and had everything I needed (toiletries etc). I wish I had more time to spend chilling in the guesthouse/in my room. Located close to all the West Lake sights, so recommended for those who are intending to spend more time in this area.
