Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeStaff - For a place called "Smiley's", the staff weren't smiley (both over the app or in person). The first time I stayed, I think the staff didn't brief about the drawers under the beds which could be unlocked using the key card and had slippers. On the first night, I came back quite late. I didn't want to potentially wake others up by unzipping my luggage bag so I put some food I bought beside my bag but when I woke up I found that one packet of food was stolen. It's partly my fault but if I knew about the drawer I could've placed it in the drawer (it's not a huge drawer though). Facilities - I'm not sure if it's for all rooms, but the toilet in my room and in the hallway are both of the squatting type so that may not be something that everyone is comfortable with (esp. when you're supposed to throw the toilet paper in the bin just beside you). A towel is provided only upon request. The room feels cramped. Cleanliness - the bathroom could be cleaner but it wasn't too bad. The privacy curtain had some stains on it. Comfort - pillow was a bit soft. Value for money - it's the cheapest hostel I've stayed in anywhere in the world so far and the location is really good but some of the above issues would make me reconsider whether I would stay there again. (There was another time when I put my slippers neatly beside my luggage bag so that it's not blocking anyone's path but the slippers disappeared when I got back so I'm not sure what to think of some of the people staying there.)
Location is really good as it is at Lianglukou subway station (Line 1) which is very central and many of the major tourist attractions are easily accessible in about 10 minutes e.g. Raffles City at Chaotianmen, the cable car and Hongya Cave at Xiaoshizi (though you have to walk 5-10 minutes), E'ling Park at E'ling. Further away on Line 1, you can also get to Shapingba Railway Station (can take high-speed rail to cities such as Chengdu) and Ciqikou Ancient Town. The hostel is about 2 minutes walk from the subway station. Take Exit 3 and go up onto the main road. It's not obvious cos it's on the 3rd floor of Crown Plaza (I used Google Maps so I'm not sure if a China-based app would be more helpful) and there were no signages to the hostel. Thankfully, I could figure out the Chinese name of Crown Plaza and I only saw that when I looked inside a nearby building.

ItalyCats living at the reception ruined my friend's luggage and the owner laughed, he didn't even make a discount to her. WiFi didn't work well.
The position was good, the room was clean and the shower very hot. One employee at the reception was very helpful and friendly, he tried to help us in many ways.

MexicoI felt that reviews were not real about this hostel, actually I suspect that western reviews are fake. Kitchen was very dirty at night, my room wasn't really clean and the projector wasn't working properly. No toilet paper included (I can buy it but arriving late a night, I'd appreciate not to go downstairs and buy it). You can get a nice hotel room with just a bit more.
Staff did their best to communicate with me in English, I appreciate that. They also waited for me until late night. Price was very good (but Chongqing is very affordable overall).

NetherlandsThe private room wasn’t that clean but it was just okay. It seemed it was a while that the room was cleaned.
The location is good, next to the metro station so it’s easy to get to all the touristic places.

SwedenNo cleaning - like at all. Toilet paper ? Well go buy it yourself it seems (joke). I could have asked the staff like I normally would but.... I usually don't complain about staff since most people try to do their best. But here I didn't see any engagement what so ever could have been a WeChat login and that's it. Note- I don't care if people in China know English, I'm in their country but this was just so unengaged.
To be honest the only positive I have to say about this place would be location, and that would be only based of food market down below and subway station. Well the price is okey for what you get. So economically speaking sure. But there are other hostels in Chongqing that you should pick! I'm surprised that this hostel have such high grades in general.
