I hope you like dark, because boy this place has some shades. While it adds to the atmosphere in the lobby, it creates serious problems in the room. The lights are positioned in such a way that you can hardly see yourself in the mirror because there is no light falling on your face. The only other problem in the room was that the airconditioning fan would constantly shut itself down after 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure the hotel changed something because it was working fine the days before. The staff's ENglish is negligible. Not a big issue for me because I speak some Mandarin, but you would expect differently from a hotel in this location that receives a fair share of foreigners. There is no bar in the hotel, but that's not a major issue since bar street is very close by. Continental breakfast options were so-so, nothing to write home about. Just one, rather slow, coffee machine.

The biggest advantages of Eastern House are its price and location: it is within walking distance of some of Xi'an's major sights, like the city wall, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and the Muslim Quarter. Xi'an's Defu Bar Street is also a 5-minute walk from the hotel, and there are lots of dining options just around the corner. The hotel was very reasonably priced for its location. The staff is helpful and friendly. The room has everything you need and is stylish and the bed was super comfy. Chinese food options at breakfast were good, including the possibility to have a cook prepare noodles, wonton, etc for you. Was very happy that the room had a humidifier because the humidity in XI'an was less than 20% outside and around 30% inside.

Facilities, cleanliness and afternoon tea are excellent. Staffs are extremely helpful and friendly, they made the stay fantastic. Only issue is with the air conditioning. There is no cold function during winter/spring months, so can be too warm in the room on a hot day. However, apparently this is the norm here, as other hotels I stayed in have the same issue.

Really great hotel. Reflects all the positive reviews. Hotel location is perfect and walking distance to everything you need. Staff were great and organised airport pickup and car service to Terracotta Army. Breakfast had plenty options and good quality. Lady in charge of the eggs is very kind. Room very comfortable and had everything you need for a great easy stay. Highly recommend and easy place to stay for foreigners. Note: Google maps is slightly incorrect in china but it’s located at dongshe boutique hotel if you need to find the exact location.

Location is a bit off which made it hard to find when we first got there.

One of the best hotels we stayed at. Staff was extremely helpful and kind. Breakfast was delicious, and we also got to enjoy the complimentary afternoon tea. Staff arranged for us a private ride to the Terracotta warriors museum. Great stay for families. Would definitely stay here again.

Necessity to provide cash deposit: don’t really understand why this should be done at 5 star hotel when you have all credit card details and pre booked and prepaid property

Nice spacious rooms. Breakfast was excellent in terms of variety and taste, coffee was nice. My family all loved staying at Eastern House. It is one of our favourite hotels during our 2 weeks China trip. Restaurant on 3rd floor offers nice reasonably priced lunch of local Xi An dishes. Location was central and very convenient. Love the bottled water fridges next to the lifts where guests can help themselves to as much water as they need.

The rooms were cold despite us trying to adjust the air conditioning/heating. Maybe because we were travelling in the time between autumn and winter so they could not adjust it. Other than that, it was perfect.

Really was not expecting a 5 star hotel experience for the price we paid. Everyone from front desk to cleaning was very very professional and polite, the room was beautiful and clean, the location was excellent.

Location on Google Maps is incorrect so travelers should use a Chinese mapping app to get the accurate location. Room only had heat and not air conditioning in winter.

Modern room with facilities that worked well. Well located within Xi'an, short walk to the bell tower, city walls and Muslim quarter. Provided breakfast spead was decent with a mix of western and Chinese items. Good value and would return.

Lobby and intermediate lobby are very cold, maybe A/C should be reduced in winter time.

Lovely structure, well designed with cosy and comfortable room, very pleasant detail and internal arrangement. Excellent breakfast, with some delicious and variegate option every day. Perfect location, very close to the South Gate and the Drum and Bell tower. Reccomended, if i will be again in Xi An i will choose it again.
