Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

This hotel is absolutely fascinating! The hotel is in a traditional building with amazing and gorgeous courtyard. One of the staff speaks english and helped us with direction, taxi and anything we needed. The bed is super comfy and the room warm. There is west breakfast. I highly recommend this gorgeous hotel.

GermanyBeds could be a little softer... almost all hotels during our China trip had hard beds, so probably reflects the local taste, but this one had the hardest ones. For us westerners, we had literally some "hard" nights.
Hotel location is exceptional, inside the walls and very close to all attractions, in a renovated old house, really charming! Breakfast was good.

United KingdomThe bed was rather hard, but this is understandable considering that it was a Chinese hotel. (Traditionally, Chinese sleep on a fairly firm bed, with a shallow mattress.
The Chinese breakfast for my friends was excellent, and a good effort was made to provide me with an English breakfast. The room was a typical Chinese style bedroom, and had all the necessary facilities.

MalaysiaWe loved everything.
The hotel building is a historical building with a long history. It is a beautiful and well maintained old building. Our hotel room was spacious and very comfortable with all the modern necessities, We were also given yummy treats of cookies and black vinegar (a speciality of Datong and Pingyao). Breakfast was very good and the serving was big. The location of hotel is very good cos it is near the West Gate and the historical buildings and restaurants are all within walking distance in the old city. The staff at the hotel are just excellent. Alice the manager is such a vibrant, knowledgeable and helpful lady who speaks very good english.

SpainAlthough the hotel makes an effort to adapt to Western taste, breakfast could be better.
The hotel is the ancient residence of a Pingyao banker and it is beautiful and atmospheric, especially at night when the lamps are lit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Alice, the manager, speaks English very well and was very welcoming. She gave us some welcome gifts and gave us tips on how to visit the highlights of the town in a short period of time.

United KingdomPingyao, historically, is a very special city. Elsewhere Leifu Hotel is meticulously renovated and decorated, reflecting that special atmosphere of the city. We loved and enjoyed our stay there. and appreciated the great hospitality. Alice and her colleagues were very kind, thoughtful and helpful. Even before our arrival we were provided with great help as some things in China, like buying a train ticket, can be more complicated than anticipated. Thanks again for the lovely stay!

Staying in this hotel was one of the best experiences in China 🇨🇳. The manager did an absolutely fantastic job, taking us from the railway station and providing us with warm welcome. The quality of service in China is one of the best in the world and this place is a role model. We received gifts and bathroom equipment. We were showed how to visit the city and how to manage. The big advantage for this hotel is the place itself. It looks like a historic traditional Chinese style, and it makes the stay an adventure where you can go back in a time. It is a good mix between modern standard of living and traditional climate The last thing worth to mention, I forgot to take my cosmetic and the manager sent it to my hotel in Beijing immediately. About the city, people say that it is a touristic open-air museum and it is not an actual china. It is true, but this is why it is worth visiting this place as it is inspiring and climatic. It is not touristic in terms of Turkish or Egipt scams place, but it is touristic because of its history and buildings that the government decided to keep in unchanged shape. 2 nights would be perfect to go around in rest mode, before going to more crowded and noisy cities. Beware Alipay is necessary to buy tickets online and visit all museums.

When we arrived, we had a warm welcome with a cup of tea. The staff is really friendly, and they speak English very well. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a hotel with greater hospitality! GermanyThe Elsewhere hotel was a little gem: it felt like were were staying at one of the ancient buildings we saw around town, while still having the comfort of a modern hotel room. I would recommend accepting the pick up service offered from the train station, since it's quite far from the hotel: we were greeted by Alice, who spoke excellent English and who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, even booking the tickets for the city's attractions with her own phone and account when mine didn't want to cooperate. We went to Ping Yao to experience ancient China, and came away with the experience of a lifetime.
