Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

RussiaNo place to store clothes.
Nice comfortable hotel. Very hospitable and helpful administration. They speak English! They helped us a lot to book tickets to the sightseeings and to find right buses and not to be lost. Also to call the taxi to railway station. The breakfast was delicious - fried eggs and fruit, watermelon. We tasted local tea. Thank you very much! Room was clean and comfortable. Conditioner. Very big comfortable bed, big window. Everything for life and comfort. Location is also good - near bus station, railway and cable way to Tianmen Mountain.

New ZealandBag storage is out in the open in the lobby - while mainland China is the safest I've felt in my travels across Asia, worth noting for the security concious traveller. However because your passport is on your person every day as an e-ticket in the national park, I wasn't particularly concerned.
Edinburgh made it a breeze to plan and book my excursions in Zhangjiajie. Specifically, it was incredibly helpful to have the staff assist with Chinese booking websites - saving me some hundreds of dollars I would've otherwise spent on guided tours. Great street food just around the corner and was an ideal location for getting to the Tianmen Cableway and Central Bus Station. Really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area at night, backalleys dripping with neon, reminding me of an era of Hong Kong I've only seen in photos. Overall, Zhanjiajie greatly exceeded my expectations as a tourist destination and Edinburgh Hostel was a big part of that. Highly recommend for solo travellers!

United KingdomTruly exceptional! From the moment we booked, the communication with the host was seamless and friendly. The homestay itself was a dream come true, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, and filled with natural light. The breakfast selection was impressive, and the host even offered to cook us dinner one night, which was an absolute treat. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to see and do. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly, highly recommended

GermanyThe hotel itself is very simple and already a bit old. Especially that bathroom could use a renovation. Nevertheless, we felt comfortable, because the kindness, patience and helpfulness of the owner deserves full marks. In our opinion, these qualities cannot be replaced by anything. You can turn a blind eye in the bathroom. The hotel is also within walking distance to the South Railway Station, bus station and the valley station of the tianman cable car. We are happy to recommend it to others.

United KingdomIt was very close to the bus stations to and the Tianmen mountain, easily could walk or get the quick bus to Zhangjiajie forest where the Avatar mountains were. The host was amazing, very welcoming, knew all the ways to travel to all the sites, even helped book tickets in advance for me (which save lots of time because my Chinese wasn't as good to surf the websites) and even helped me with my problems during the stay.

United StatesThis is not a critique persay, but this is a hostel, not a five star hotel. Its listing is accurate to the size of the rooms and amenities. For the price, the rooms are great, but they are very compact. This place is ideal for a cozy, friendly stay, not a 5-star or chain hotel.
PeiPei, the hotel manager, was incredible. Her english is great, and she was totally willing to help me and my friend navigate booking tickets to the national park, and explain the complicated process of taking buses to and from the parks. She also was very knowledgeable about the various pricing options for activities in the park, and helped us save some money where we could. For two Americans with VERY limited Chinese language skills, she was a lifesaver! And she makes a great cappuchino.
