It was a bit cold everywhere and I was freezing a little at night despite the warm blanket the hostel offers so bring warm clothes!

As the hostel is in an old building there isn't much soundproofing so if you're not into your music until 12pm then maybe this isn't for you. Music is an integral part of Colombian society and it is everywhere! The private room was pretty basic but that's what we paid for.

We had a great stay at Botanico Hostel. It was our first time in Bogota and this was a good base to explore the city; excellent food and drink options, sightseeing options on your doorstep (make sure you check out the walking tour, graffiti tour and cycling tour!), good location from the airport and onwards travel. The staff were really friendly and helpful with all of our questions! The staff had plenty of advice for local tours, where to explore and where not to explore, and all There was a well stocked bar and cool tunes. Breakfast was available at a reasonable cost on the roof terrace. The hostel itself is in a beautiful old building only a 5 minute walk to the sights of La Candelaria.

Some of the doors on the bathrooms can get stuck so check them before going in, although pretty funny when you have to shout someone to rescue you - a good ice breaker I guess!!

Loved it here, really sociable communal areas. The beds are clean and comfy. They put activities on each day, some free, some for a small fee e.g Yoga. Amrit who took the yoga class was such a lovely teacher, I enjoyed the two mornings very much xx Free tea and coffee. Lots of info about tours you can do. Deffo do the graffiti tour with capital x

Bedrooms and social spaces were a little chilly.

Extremely welcoming hostel, easy to meet other travellers in the cosy social spaces. Friendly staff, especially bar woman - lots of free shots of homemade infused alcohol. Comfortable private beds with curtains. Perfect place to begin my trip in Colombia.

The wifi is really bad, especially in the rooms. Also there is no connection because it is higher in the area, I had things to do for my study, that’s the thing that sucked. But if you don’t have any of that stuff to do, it’s the best place to be!

It’s the most beautiful hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff is so sweet, Estefania really made me feel at home. I spent my birthday here and couldn’t wish for a better place. The beds are really comfortable, everything is clean. The women from breakfast are also the best! They are really sweet and serve the best breakfast, in the morning you can sit on the terrace, with beautiful views over the city and the mountains. It’s a very social space. Already thinking of going back here, and recommend it to many people. Also the best aguardiente ;)

Everything! This hands down is the best hostel I have stayed in during my 6 months of travelling. It attracts the best travellers and the social areas are perfect for meeting cool people. The hostel itself is beautiful being covered by plants. Best of all is the staff. Each of them are so helpful and cool! The thing I will miss the most about this hostel is the people because they really made my stay in Bogota the best it could be! Also there is unlimited coffee and tea throughout the day!

Wifi is unstable and slow. They charge 5% credit card fee. The room even inside is cold in the night. It takes 1-2 minutes to get hot shower.

Near to the old city area. Bogotá city view form the terrace is beautiful . Comfortable common room to chat with other tourists. Staff, especially two girls, are very kind. Ana is a lovely girl and welcome tourists with good smile. When I had a flight cancellation problem, Monica was supportive and called the flight company customer support in Spanish as I can’t speak Spanish. Also, she called Booking.com customer support to cancel my next hostel for free.

The only thing that could be improved - the temperature inside. Bogota is chilly, especially at night, and as the building is old (which makes it special), the cold air passes easily. Some better isolation, or tiny heaters in the rooms probably could make it a perfect spot.

This place is amazing. When you arrive in a bustling Bogota, it totally feels like home, everybody being so welcoming, open and friendly. The building is beautiful, and you could spend a lot of time just sitting at the rooftop, staring at the city. A big bonus for breakfasts prepared by a lovely lady! We were also welcomed by a fire and vegetarian ajiaco right after we arrived, which was a beautiful entry to Colombia.
