Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Todo bien!
I'm so grateful I found this beautiful place after arriving in Colombia. Patricia and Gabriel create a familiar atmosphere which makes it super easy to connect with fellow travelers. Just have breakfast and you'll have a couple of new friends :)I kept extending and stayed more than a week in the end. The beds are comfy, the showers have warm water and there's space in the garden and the hut to play, practice yoga or just relax in a hammock. Plus it's an excellent place to visit plenty of attractions and experience la Candelaria. Gracias por todo, seguro que volveré! :)

Location, it's a great place to meet other travellers. Gabriel and Patricia are very nice and they look after their guests well. Thank you Gabriel and Patricia I enjoyed my stay.

La candelaria is no place to roam around late at night.
Wonderful Hostel. It's a peaceful oasis. I loved to chill in the garden with the cats. I met many wonderful guests with a likewise mentality.

The wifi could be a little patchy. The noise carries through the walls.
The staff were excellent. The simple breakfast was made with love every morning. The blankets were so weighty and snug. The place was filled with natural light. The neighbourhood is gorgeous, and while it's known for being a little dangerous, the front door system felt perfectly secure. The homely vibe was just right!

The only thing is the WiFi which is not the best, it's quite slow
Patrice and Gabriel are just amazing human beings and host! They were so helpful, giving me all the possible information about what to do and how to be safe in the city. The breakfast was simple but amazing with fruits, bread, butter and jam and coffee. The kitchen is clean and complete with everything you will need to cook and the garden is very nice. There is even a room with games and to do yoga or dance with the other travelers! Absolutely recommended, one of the best hostels I've been

Nothing - if you’re looking for a relaxing space after a day of walking or days of travelling, this is it.
We stayed in the double bedroom. Provided a quiet nights sleep, perfect for weary travellers. Enough blankets to be very warm even as night temperature drops in Bogotá. Location is perfect for walking into Candelaria. Essentially we loved that this is not a party hostel. It’s an authentic space, in a literal family home, which looks and feels welcoming and relaxing. The kitchen/dining area is wonderful so too the garden with hammocks and building at the end of the garden where you can stretch and relax. Brilliant husband-wife duo who live there and run it.

The breakfast is not the best but it was ok.
The location is great and the stuff is amazing, helpful. The room was ok, clean, there are several bathrooms which is great too.

The top bunk beds are clearly worse than the bottom ones with little room for your stuff and little privacy. Luckely I was moved to a bottom bed once one was available

This is the perfect place to stay for a couple of days to explore La Candelaria. The hostel is simple, but has everything you need. The staff is amazing, cooks good meals, is helpful and flexible. Highly recommended!

Can be a bit loud in the morning.
Very very friendly owners who helped me when I was sick. Really wonderful people. Comfortable beds, I was happy with the breakfast of fruits and bread, many bathrooms. Excellent location. Good security. Good kitchen with all you need.

Gabriel and Patricia really look after you! Breakfast is basic but enough. Dorms are comfortable and plenty of sitting space inside, outside and in the games room at the back. They are very aware of your safety and if you order an Uber, will wait outside with you until it arrives. Nice walk into the main part of town and plenty of places to eat close by.

Incredible hostel, best owners you can imagine! 24hrs reception, super friendly, always there to chat with you or answer any questions. Laundry service cheap and fast, free breakfast contains coffee, toast, jam and fruits. It's a social hostel but not a party hostel. Beds are super comfy, have extra blankets if you get cold at night. Big lockers to put your valuable belongings there. Loved the stay here, 11/10!!

There was some music/noise from the neighbourhood at night but having travelled around Colombia for two weeks this seems to be the norm all over the country except the amazon!
A lovely family run hostel. Great location in the historic centre close to museums, galleries, restaurants etc. Nice breakfast of a big bowl of fruit salad and toast. We shared a private twin room with bathroom which was comfortable and clean.

Amazingly clean, beautiful garden, nice facilities. Gabriel and his wife are highly welcoming and fun to talk to, and both give great advice on where to go, where to eat, and what to see.
