Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. United StatesFrom the beginning of the trip the coordination was very helpful and Zoraida and Carlos took care of everything for us to get on the boat from Leticia. The refugio is only a 20-25 minute walk to Puerto Nariño, but also only a 3-5 minute boat road that you can get from the main dock (and also can arrange with the hotel to assist). The peaceful atmosphere of the location and the benches by the river, the pool, the chickens roamin around, and the amazing hospitality make this a place I would definitely like to come back to. Carlos made it seem easy to help us organize our return boat back to Iquitos via Caballo cocha and we felt like there was nothing to worry about.

United StatesVery cool place - Carlos and Zoraida were the best and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They helped us book all our excursions and made sure we knew all that the area had to offer. Carlos speaks great English and Zoraida was able to figure out what little Spanish my friend and I could understand and communicate effectively with us. I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend. They have a great staff of guides who were very patient with our poor Spanish and were able to enrich our experience greatly. Thank you Eware team!

United KingdomIts very hot in the amazon, so having an alternate cooling system for the day time (Fans only operate in the evenings) would be a great investment by the refuge.
Carlos and his team are brilliant hosts. The refuge is excellent, offering great facilities and food for staying in the Amazon. We did three tours, all arranged by Carlos and all three were superb.

United KingdomNothing. We spent ten days here and would happily book again.
The Eware Refugio is set in a wonderful garden on the banks of a tributary of the River Amazon, just a five minute boat ride (which the Refugio will arrange) from the attractive town of Puerto Nariño. The location is superb. With a proper sized swimming pool for lengths and comfortable hammocks and riverside seats, we spent several days relaxing and spotting the plentiful birds, pink and grey dolphin's, and even a rare otter. Carlos is a supremely friendly and helpful host who will arrange, at your convenience, and at short notice, one of a number of excursions at a fair price. A short kayak ride up the tributary is lake Tarapoto. We spent an unforgettable couple of hours at sunset watching the dolphins. It's also a pleasant walk down to Puerto Nariño. Dinners and lunches are tasty and reasonably priced and our room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended for an intimate experience of the Amazon and its rainforest.

BelgiumThe (bath)room was a bit smelly, but as you are in the middle of the jungle, don’t expect any luxury. The staff pays attention to the premises, but we felt the whole was a bit ran down and could need some freshening up.
Quiet stay near the river/lake, nice food (different preparation each day), great tours with nice guides.

GermanyVery nice place about 30 minutes (walk) from Puerto Nariño. The walk to Puerto Nariño includes a stretch going through the forest - I wouldn’t like to do this at night. However, Carlos was super helpful and I was dropped off by boat. Also, you can get dinner at Eware (the vegetarian option was very tasty and I got seconds when I was still hungry). The place feels like a little oasis in the jungle, very calm and relaxing and everyone was very nice. Would definitely be back.

CanadaWe recommend at a minimum rudimentary Spanish.
Wonderful retreat overlooking the Amazon at a spot where the dolphins and birds congregate to feed. As comfortable as one can get off grid in the Amazon, and the hosts and guides are welcoming and super helpful.

SpainReally not any complaints. We were happy the pool was clean and it was so nice to cool off, but it needs to have strong chemical to keep it clean, so we were glad we had swim goggles to protect our eyes.
Carlos and his mother, Zoraida, are very helpful and provide well-informed candid advice to travelers. Staying there is more than just a nice accommodation but also logistical and practical support to explore the surrounding area.

United StatesAmazing stay, my friend and I are naturalists and the forest around here has plenty of good birds (especially down the road) and other wildlife. We were mostly independent, but did a morning of watching dolphins. Other guests did more walks and such, though. Hosts were also very helpful with arranging boat logistics and everything else.

CanadaNo. Everything was great.
Great location. Right on the river so great for viewing dolphins and birds. Close to the lake and kayaks are available for a reasonable fee. The property is also within close walking distance to town. About 20 minutes. The grounds are amazing. The pool is great for cooling off after activities and the tower provides an extra viewing experience. The rooms and shared bathrooms are kept super clean. There is a range of sleeping options to choose from. The food is good and everyone who works there is super nice. It's very convenient as Carlos will organize boat transfers and activities. Wifi is available throughout the main living space. Loved the experience.

NetherlandsThe lock on the female bathroom didn’t work so the cleaning lady walked in on me half naked.
Simple but comfortable stay outside of town. Carlos was very helpful in arranging excursions but also in helping with booking the boat from Leticia. Great to have a pool to cool down after a long hike.

CanadaBed was hard. Water was sometimes difficult to come by, but always available if you asked.
Location is amazing, our of the city with so much to see and do. Whole Refugio team is awesome. Host reserved boats to and from Leticia, as well as organized tours for a reasonable price. Power was typically only on for certain times of the day, you’re deep in the Amazon, what do you expect? Bug nets above bed were in good condition. Everything was kept very clean and organized the whole time.

South AfricaThere is nothing I didn't like that could be changed by the owners, the two things that are worth mentioning (out of the owners control) are the lack of air-con in the rooms (they have fans which are adequate but it is still hot for those not accustomed to this part of the world, note that the resort does not run on mains power so air-con is not an option. This is the case for most places in the area). The only other thing is the lack of wildlife in the Colombian forests. They have all been hunted out so don't expect to see anything in terms of animals. The trip to the Peruvian side to see sloths etc is amazing, River dolphins are plentiful and the bird life is brilliant.
The owners are lovely and Carlos speaks English which is both very rare for that part of the world and very helpful for those that don't speak Spanish. The location is amazingly beautiful. Swimming pool is awesome and accommodation is great and excellent value for money.

CanadaThis is not a fault of Eware but there were some international tourists who were quite loud in the mornings (5-6am) and would smoke cigarettes right outside our room. Perhaps, they could mention there should be quiet hours and ask people to smoke a little further away as there are no windows and only screens.
The perfect spot. Away from the noise and busy aspects of both Leticia and Puerto Nariño. Very beautiful grounds and loved to wake up to nature. Meals are simple but fresh and nutritious. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. A pool in the Amazon is incredible Excellent tours offered at fair prices. I especially recommend the walk and sloth sighting tour in San Antonio as well as the fishing and swimming in the Amazon tour. Even though Carlos was on vacation during most of our visit, he was very helpful for our planning.

ItalyBeautifully located, immersed in nature, lots of birds singing in the morning. Carlos and the staff were always helpful and smiling. He gave us great tips to explore Puerto Nariño and there are plenty of activities and tours you can choose from, working closely with local communities. You can easily walk to Puerto Nariño (35mins walk, until 8pm). The swimming pool was also a big plus considering how hot it can get! We had a great stay and would recommend it!
